About the Job
Reporting to the Solarpack US Country Manager, the Director of Project Development will oversee all project development efforts at Solarpack US. The successful candidate will be responsible to growing and leading a team in identifying and developing utility-scale renewable energy projects in the US market (solar, wind, and energy storage). Candidates will have a strong market expertise, solid leadership and communications skills, and extensive experience in renewable energy project acquisitions, sales and financing transactions. This position requires close collaboration with subject matter experts across all aspects of project development.
Your Role
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the US market inputs and advise on potential impacts to the business plan and ongoing development strategy.
- Define, build and manage the project development team to successfully achieve the company goals.
- Create and implement the project development tools to manage the company’s portfolio of projects.
- Manage internal and external resources throughout the negotiation of Real Estate, Interconnection and Transmission, Taxes, Offtake, finance, and EPC agreements.
- Develop and own project development budgets, schedules, and economic inputs.
- Coordinate with the Project Finance team to ensure that the deal structure, economic, and tax assumptions are properly analyzed. Ensure that all commercial conditions are in place to meet underwriting assumptions and support the Project Finance team to secure financing of the project.
- Create and nurture the network of external resources to support Solarpack’s development activities for the key subject matters.
- Lead all project development activities in the US for greenfield and co-development partnerships.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including federal, state and local officials, project landowners, and surrounding community members.
- Develop and execute the renewable energy project development strategy for Solarpack US.
Your Profile
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship management skills.
- 10+ years of professional experience in project finance, energy market or project development (real estate, permitting, interconnection, power marketing, EPC)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Legal, Science or related field.
- Financial modeling expertise.
