Job Description

The Divison of Human Resources within Florida International University is seeking a Director of Recruitment to join our team of professionals.

Duties Include:

  • Analyzes recruitment and staffing data to identify trends. Provides University community with consultation and makes recommendations that support strategic alignment as well operational and service excellence. Provides leadership in managing changes in policies, procedures, and processes relevant to recruitment.
  • Develops, administers, and projects budget needs for recruitment initiatives.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to align human resource strategy with the vision, values, and mission of the university. Builds relationships with local organizations for the purpose of enhancing recruitment. Hosts and participates in career fairs.
  • Provides leadership and direction for staff; oversees the hiring, training, supervising, and development of departmental staff.
  • Designs and promotes both talent acquisition, recruitment, and onboarding through talent management strategies and systems. Implements strategies to continuously cultivate a talent pipeline for the university, inclusive of succession planning administration.
  • Recommends and approves salary actions for new employees in accordance with their training, experience, and market data analysis.
  • Directs the design, development, implementation, integration, and assessment of Human Resource Recruitment initiatives including talent acquisition and organizational analysis.
  • Develops policies and procedures as well as other management program initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the University consistent with best practices.
  • Plans, develops, and administers recruitment activities of all staff and administrative (non-search and screen) and temporary position vacancies. Provides leadership in the development of recruitment practices. Ensures compliance with Home Land Security (I-9) regulations. Establishes a résumé database of highly qualified individuals. Tracks all employment compliance requirements (i.e.: OFCCP, DOL, OC, EEO, AA).
  • Assists the Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Human Resources with special initiatives related to Human Resource Management or other projects to meet university needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Benchmarks other research-extensive institutions and recommends/implements new cutting-edge programs to ascertain being an employer of choice. Develops new programs and initiatives based on best practices and latest trends to enhance the recruitment function of the University.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in a related field and eight (8) years of professional recruitment experience with experience in a management role.
