Director, Portfolio Management - Equity

Qualifications

• MBA/CFA or other advanced degree preferred
• BA/undergraduate degree in actuarial, business, econometrics, investment management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or related fields
• 15+ years of experience, most recently in equity portfolio management/administration most likely in private equity, venture capital or other investment fund

What You'll Do
This is a role for an entrepreneurial and high performing individual. As the Director of Portfolio Management, you will help build McKinsey’s nascent portfolio management function. This role will see you deliver in the following areas

• Overseeing the production and communication of quality and timely reporting associated with the full financial reporting cycle; this includes monthly or quarterly financial reporting and forecasting/budgeting, yearly and half-yearly company valuations
• Project-based work – selecting software and tools to help track and monitor portfolio performance
• Monitoring disclosure reporting obligations
• Optimizing cash realization, multiple of investment and IRR while prudently managing risks
• Building dashboards and selecting KPIs to monitor portfolio performance
• Overseeing portfolio of positions from early-stage venture capital, to private equity and private equity fund investments as well as public company investments
• Owning exercise of shareholder/voting rights and decision on when to exit positions, transfer to trust, etc.
• Building relationships and networks both internally and externally
• Building our portfolio management capability and team
• Overseeing the maintenance and development of financial projection models
• Coordinating monitoring of business performance and portfolio reviews with equity team members

From a networking and stakeholder engagement perspective you will have a proven track record in building relationships and extensive networks both internally and externally. You will have proven financial planning & analysis and finance business partnering experience ideally gained in the funds or asset management sector (broader experience gained in the financial services sector will also be considered).
Who You'll Work With
Reporting directly to our firm’s treasurer, you will work closely with the partners of our firm, internal (directors of equity arrangements, accounting, risk, treasury, legal, etc.) and external (portfolio managers, trusts, legal, etc.) stakeholders who have a role in shaping/approving equity-based arrangements.
You will be based in Boston, New Jersey or New York office.
McKinsey’s Pricing & Arrangements (Equity) is a team of commercially minded professionals who help to structure and negotiate non-standard arrangements including performance-based arrangements and equity-based arrangements. This role fits into the “portfolio management” side of our firm’s equity-based arrangements ecosystem. We are growing in all areas of non-standard arrangements and therefore need to manage our growing equity portfolio.
You will be responsible for building this function and managing our growing portfolio.
