Job Summary


Mobility Fleet Operations is revolutionizing the industry with digital-first fleet solutions connecting fleets with maintenance experts, using data-driven technology via an automated marketplace of service providers & proprietary fleet technology. Fleet Operations is Cox Automotive Mobility's centralized Maintenance Management division; designed for fleets, operators and teams who need an on-demand service solution, data driven insights, and a team of fleet experts to support them so they can focus on their core business.


The Director of Operations is responsible for shaping, delivering, and growing the Fleet Operations division, while managing the core day-to-day functions of the business (Dispute Resolution, Account Migration and Proxy Services). The individual in this role must be able to execute today while building for the future. This ambidextrous leader will manage a team who are directly responsible for delivering the Fleet Operations service offering(s), while developing and owning a creative, innovative, efficient, and scalable process to shift Fleet Operations into a high-growth model. This leader must work across teams within Cox Automotive to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to provide a seamless and fully integrated client experience. They will work closely with teams across Product and Performance Management, as well as leaders across the industry.


To be successful in this role, you must have experience with building, developing, and managing several operational teams, tremendous conflict resolution skills, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to translate your knowledge to a strategy followed by practical execution to drive operational success. You must be skilled in managing a team of direct reports, including hourly team members, influencing, and collaborating while driving accountability & achieving the businesses profitability goals.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead end-to-end operations of Fleet Operations, assess staffing levels, review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor to ensure efficiency, qualify work product, and effective customer service.
  • Building unified vision of tools needed to have teams operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Work to bridge gaps and increase efficiency of service providers via direct connections.
  • Develop processes, establish SLAs, negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and monitor service providers & internal team members to ensure service levels and KPIs are met.
  • Develop, design, and deliver a strategy to achieve the vision of the Fleet Operations that aligns with the revenue and growth goals.
  • Select, develop, and scale your team as the business grows while effectively managing through the growing pains of change.
  • Lead process innovation and definition for Fleet Operations to support scale across different classes of vehicles.
  • Lead Day-to-Day business operations (Dispute management, Proxy service, implementation).
  • Effectively lead the team members by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
  • Collaborate with Mobility Product team to support existing and new maintenance management clients.

  • Technical understanding of software tools and concepts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experiencing high-level business discussions and low-level technical discussions to drive alignment and bring clarity to the overall vision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - flexible, collaborative, positive attitude, highly motivated and curious about market evolutions.
  • Proven experience in operational and change management.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or fleet management.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience with at least 5 years' experience in a leadership role; or the right candidate could have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 8 years' experience; Ph.D. and 5 years' experience in a related field; or 14 years' experience without a degree.
