Director of Sales (remote)

This company is a disruptive snack brand and we’re on a mission to save the planet by getting more people to snack on seaweed. Our puffs are made of climate-friendly seaweed and sorghum. Seaweed is a nutrient dense sea vegetable that sequesters carbon and needs no water or feed to grow (and it grows fast!). Seaweed is regenerative and fast growing — two factors that make seaweed the future of food. Sorghum is a gluten-free, carbon sequestering ancient grain that grows with little water. Our umami, crunchy puffs are dusted with familiar and craveable flavors like Sour Cream and Onion, Sweet Chili and Cheese Pizza.

The Role:

The new Director of Sales will work with the team and our brokers to successfully launch nationwide

Responsibilities:

● Manage and grow nationwide go to market rollout

● Create and lead sales strategy

● Manage the day-to-day working relationship with our broker and distributor partners

● Deliver the revenue and profit targets which fuel our growth

● Champion sales fundamentals to optimize our in-store performance

● Pursue or partner with our broker to execute strong key account plans and develop plans for delivering against key sales objectives

● Own and manage the customer annual sales and trade budgets including setting targets and tracking monthly, quarterly and annual results for assigned geography

● Look for new, profitable opportunities to grow the business

● Execute against trade programs by working with distributor and retail partners at store level

● Collaborate on marketing programs to implement at retail

● Coordinate and implement field marketing programs

● Utilize data sources to evaluate and capitalize on sales opportunities

● Drive activities in a manner that increases brand awareness, product presence and revenue generation for all company products.

● Negotiate favorable terms when appropriate

● Be a company champion on managing sales CRM

● Assist with managing distributor deductions

Requirements:

● Self starter, comfortable working with a small, entrepreneurial team, with a positive attitude/energy

● Must be able to wear multiple hats (occasionally outside of your explicit job function), and work across multiple departments

● Possess patience and maturity, and maintain professionalism under-pressure

● Superb negotiation and problem skills skills

● Strong understanding of the U.S. CPG marketplace and diverse channels, particularly UNFI and KeHE

● Superior understanding of sales fundamentals and proven experience leveraging them to drive growth

● Experience in managing brokers, demos/merchandisers

● Experience in selling to, onboarding, and managing large key accounts

● Proven experience building and nurturing relationships

● CPG industry sales experience, 5-8 years min

● Proficient with Google Workplace, Slack, Asana, and CRM

● Ability to work from home

● Ability to travel (10-15%), mostly for tradeshows
