Our client is looking for a dynamic and astute Director of Media Relations to join a fast-growing media and PR firm. This is a remote, temp-to-hire position working full-time hours.
The media and PR agency was founded by a very successful entrepreneur, a well-known producer, public relations expert, a political strategist, and more. They continue a legacy of representing and honoring cause-driven clients in conservative media.
The Director of Media Relations must possess well-established connections and relationships with media outlets, possess exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, and be capable of producing press releases, pitches, and talking points with speed and efficiency.

Here's what the Director of Media Relations can expect in this exciting role:
- Be ready to perform tasks outside of this description to support client objectives and aid other departments.
- Perform various operational tasks such as loading email distributions, monthly media reporting, and booking media placements.
- Take on multiple projects and changing priorities, all while helping to shape public opinion and build momentum for our mission.
- Represent the firm with clients and media, bringing your own relationships and connections to the table.
- Conceive, write, edit, and pitch op-eds to promote our clients' messages.
- Work with the Director of Operations to optimize systems and processes for efficient and effective workflows.
- Keep a constant eye on the news cycle to anticipate opportunities for our clients and make sure the press learns what our experts have to offer.
- Draft press releases, pitches, and talking points for experts, while also managing other content creators.
- Be responsible for crafting and executing media strategies for our cause-driven clients.
- Craft both short- and long-term media strategies to recommend to the company President.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 5 years of hand-on experience in managing relationships with the media
- Proficiency in the MAC environment
- Superlative writing and editing skills.
- Exhibits professionalism and clear, concise communication skills while working under tight deadlines.
- A keen understanding of the news cycle and what drives press coverage, allows you to respond quickly to and anticipate breaking news.
- Adheres to best practices in document workflow, submission, and communication.
- Proficiency in Google Suite for the calendar, email, and document drive.
- Proficient in working independently, taking initiative, and effectively managing time.
- Demonstrated experience in shaping public discourse through successful media placements.
- The ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the media cycle (based on Eastern Seaboard), sometimes with early mornings, late evenings, and some weekends.
