Reporting to the President of the University, the Athletic Director is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision for the athletics program, and providing leadership to a staff of coaches, trainers, marketing and sports information professionals, administrative assistants, and student athletes. The Athletic Director manages and administers all aspects of Clayton State University's intercollegiate athletics program including, but not limited to, staffing, budget, and compliance with rules, regulations, and policies of the University, NCAA Division II, and the Peach Belt Conference. This position is telework eligible at the manager's discretion and telework guidelines apply.

• Ensure the recruitment of academically qualified students and the development and utilization of comprehensive services to support the academic progress of athletes with an emphasis on student success and keeping life in the balance.
• Serve as a member of the President's Extended Cabinet.
• Adhere to the University's primary mission of educating its students and strategic plan with an emphasis on student academic success and degree completion. In addition, the Athletic Director is responsible for leading a program that is congruent with the vision, values and ethics of the University.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate head coaches and other athletic department staff.
• Administer all aspects of Clayton State University Athletics programs and events.
• Actively participate on NCAA, Peach Belt Conference or University Committees relating to athletics.
• Represent the University and the Athletics Department to internal and external constituents and promote the athletics program and the University in a positive manner. Be an active and visible fan for all sports ' both in the community and at the University.
• Collaborate with the Division of External Relations in seeking fundraising opportunities for the department through outright gifts, advertising, and the University Corporate Partners Program.
• Oversee NCAA and Title IX compliance. Assume responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the University, Peach Belt Conference, and NCAA.
• Collaborate with other departments on campus while promoting a culture of shared responsibility and success. Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with faculty, administrators, staff, students, student organizations, alumni, friends, and the local community regarding athletics at Clayton State University.
• Manage the athletics department's financial resources, including, but not limited to, preparation and management of the annual operating budget, equipment, and facilities budgeting.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the President of Clayton State University.

• Considerable successful and relevant experience managing a collegiate athletics program particularly at NCAA Division I, II or III.
• Bachelor's degree required.

• Advanced degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of federal laws including Title IX, NCAA, and Peach Belt Conference rules and regulations as well as University System of Georgia Board of Regents policies and procedures that pertain to athletics.
SKILLS
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to interact with diverse constituencies including students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and prospective donors.
