Job Description
Excelling in quality, innovation, and impact, UCLA Extension (UNEX) is one of the top providers of continuing and professional education in the United States, offering programs and classes to more than 50,000 students per year through approximately 4,500 classes and certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education, and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of traditional, nontraditional, domestic, international, professional, and continuing education students throughout and beyond Los Angeles.
Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Administration / CFO, the Director has overall management responsibilities for UCLA Extension's (UNEX) Information Technology Services operations including research, development, implementation, and maintenance of: the enterprise network and infrastructure (hardware and software); institutional software applications (administrative and programmatic); institutional computer laboratories; classroom technologies; and individual departmental/user hardware, software use, and applications. Direct responsibilities include delivery of a portfolio of integrated services that supports faculty, students, and staff in the use of information technology, for teaching and learning, website development and management, and administration of UCLA Extension. Additionally, this position has oversight of IT solutions and operations which are compliant with all laws and University policy, supportive of the student experience while leveraging existing UNEX and UCLA resources in an intuitive, reliable, and forward-looking manner.
The Director will prepare and present departmental budgets that are compliant with institutional goals, develop departmental customer service objectives and monitor customer satisfaction, ensure user training, and supervise all administrative functions within Information Technology Services (ITS).
In addition, this position has direct responsibility for leading the development of an ITS strategic direction that enables Extension to reach larger established institutional strategic goals by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The Director will provide high-level support to various Extension service areas which include Marketing, Student and Alumni Services, Program Services, and Finance, and will serve as a technology thought leader across the organization.

Required/Preferred
1. Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in providing and managing information technology services in a large organization on a strategic level as well as demonstrated knowledge of information technology operations and practices, preferably in a public or private university and/or academic setting.

2. A bachelor's degree in a related field (Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent combination of training, education and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired. Masters in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred.

3. A strong background in IT support, web development and management, and a proven track record of ensuring alignment of service capacity, flexibility, and delivery with both strategic and operational requirements.
