Founded in 1904, the mission of the Tampa Yacht & Country Club is to further the tradition of providing exceptional boating, recreational, dining and social experiences befitting the members and their families. The Club has a membership of 1,489 and is very family oriented. The Club is recognized as one of the nation’s premiere yacht clubs and has enjoyed the prestigious Platinum Clubs of America status since 2003 and Platinum Clubs of the World status since 2019. Club facilities include a 21,000 square foot Clubhouse with formal and informal dining rooms, member lounge, an elegant ballroom and three private party rooms. Adjacent to the Clubhouse is a poolside Pavilion and outdoor bar, an Olympic Swimming Pool, 9 Har-Tru Tennis Courts, 2 Pickleball Courts, a Pro Shop, Fitness/Aerobics Center and Locker Rooms. In addition to the Clubhouse, there is an Equestrian Center and a 90-slip Marina which was completely renovated in 2015. The Clubhouse underwent an $8 million renovation in 2021 to include a 3,000 square foot kitchen addition and renovation of the member dining spaces. The Club sits on Hillsborough Bay offering exceptional views. Historically, the Club is known among the area’s clubs, high-end restaurants and resorts for its exceptional food and service. Food and beverage revenues total $5.7 million (35% generated from private events).

Position Overview: The Director of Food and Beverage Operations position is a special opportunity for candidates with a successful track record of leadership and high-quality food and beverage management in private clubs or other high-end establishments in the hospitality industry. The primary focus of the role is on the overall member/guest experience. The position is ultimately responsible for all club property food and beverage service operations daily, including its activities, dining options, and relationships between club members, guests, and employees. Being the “public face” of these operations with a hands-on approach and an understanding that full “on-the-floor “member and staff engagement is critical to the success of the position. The relationship with the Executive Chef and management team is very important, ensuring collaborative and harmonious relationships between front and back of house operations. This position works closely with the Director of Club Operations and Director of Finance, and reports directly to the General Manager. Direct reports include the Executive Chef, Director of Catering & Events, Dining Room Manager, Pavilion Manager, Banquet Manager, and Beverage Manager.

Candidate Profile: Very strong F&B skills are necessary, as is an intuitively respectful style and mentoring/nurturing approach to staff and team. Tampa Yacht & Country Club is a high expectation club operation with multiple operating outlets, events and activities occurring simultaneously; the ability to be able to manage and lead in such an environment in an organized and thoughtful manner is critically important. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and accessible leader providing visible and hands-on leadership to the dedicated staff, many of whom have been with the Club for many years. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional appearance and demeanor, good character and commitment to his/her work are a must in order to interact with members and help to assure maximum member satisfaction. A friendly, outgoing personality, strong working knowledge of food and beverage service, staff training and an eye for detail are required skills. Must be proficient in P&L, creating and monitoring the department’s budget, and have the ability to proactively course-correct when needed to ensure financial goals are met. A hospitality or related degree is preferred, plus a minimum of four years of management experience in a high-volume hotel, restaurant or private club operation, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Experience with Clubessential is a plus. Impeccable and verifiable references required. All candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background review. Tampa Yacht & Country Club is a “drug free” workplace.

Compensation: The Club offers an attractive and competitive compensation and benefits package to include a base salary and bonus package. Standard club executive benefits to include health and dental insurance, vacation and 401(k) plan. CMAA dues and continuing education package with emphasis on achievement of the CCM designation.
