Director of Development for Special Events

$80, 000-$95, 000 + Benefits

Remote, US Based

Domestic travel required to Events and other company functions


Fifty-year-old national health disorder nonprofit seeking a Director of Development who has proven success meeting fundraising goals for galas, golf tournaments, and other national and local events. This role will be expected to continue this role’s $1.6 M base fundraising and hit annual growth targets.


Collaborate with a diverse and enthusiastic team who promote an inclusive environment. This Director of Development for Special Events solicits gifts directly and supports volunteers in the field who fundraise. Develop strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit leadership-level support and multi-year commitments from new donors.


Responsibilities:

· Cultivate, solicit, and steward a diverse portfolio of individual and institutional contributors.

· Identify donors’ philanthropic interests and provide them with an opportunity to realize an

outstanding philanthropic experience through their charitable investment of time, advocacy,

and financial support.

· Support donor acquisition efforts by helping identify and coordinate new opportunities to

raise resources and build the brand with emphasis on corporate sponsorship.

· Serve as a liaison between donors, prospective donors, and leadership to ensure individuals

are fully aware of and invested in national events.

· Communicate with a set number of donors per week, via phone and/or email, at their homes,

offices, and at events.

· Maintain accurate records when communicating with supporters and achieve monthly targets

on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.

· Serves as the senior member and lead fund raiser of the special events team; identify and

cultivate committee members; creates new special events opportunities with volunteer

support.

· Supervise event vendors and consultants in addition to a F/T Special Event Coordinator

charged with logistics and assisting with the fund raising for National Conference, National

Walk, Annual Gala, two regional Golf events, 3rd party events and additional events.


Qualifications:

  • 5 years minimum fundraising for special events from strategic planning through execution
  • Collaborate with internal staff to manage and mushroom current donors, and identify new sources of revenue so maximum donor engagement occurs.
  • Ability to travel multiple times a year to New York City, Washington, DC, Chicago, Atlanta, and other regions where events are held.
  • Prepare fundraising reports that track progress
  • Microsoft office, and fundraising software, Every Action experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Bachelor’s degree required with excellent project management skills.
