Director Of Construction- Multifamily

Our Dallas, TX office is looking for a Director of Construction with multifamily experience.

Position Summary:

1 Oversight of Projects:

• Routinely reviews project schedules, shop drawing logs and change request logs for each project assigned.
• Promotes programs and projects both within and outside the organization to ensure that they are clearly understood and that they are received with enthusiasm and high expectations.
• Reviews and approves: correspondence, joint check requisitions, change requests and schedules. Performs routine site visits of assigned projects.
• Keeps the VP of Construction informed on projects’ status, schedule, and profitability concerns.
• Attends BIC, Owner/Architect, or Preconstruction meetings as necessary.
• Reviews cost reports with the Project Managers routinely and prior to monthly project reviews
• Reviews and approves expense reports and PTO requests prior to VP of Construction approval.
• Coordinates, schedules topics, and conducts weekly Project Manager meetings.
• Participates in the performance evaluations and creates developmental plans for Project Managers, Superintendents and Project Engineers.
• Provides daily oversight and guidance to Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure schedules and budgets are being maintained.
• Reviews Preconstruction schedules regarding the timeframe required for releases as it relates to turnover dates.
• Maintains relationships with clients and all project team members, including Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, Municipalities, etc.

Staff Management :

• Assists in the interviewing and hiring process for Superintendents, Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Assigns and ensures proper training for Project Engineers.
• Communicates new policies and procedures to Project Managers, Superintendents and Project Engineers.
• Coaches and develops project teams.
• Assists the VP of Construction in assigning supervision of projects and forming project teams.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to travel frequently
• Excellent problem solver
• Knowledge of codes and standard practices
• 10-15 years of commercial construction experience, field experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related area
• Computer skills using Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office , and Procore
• SWPPP Training
• Ability to take and pass state license examinations
• Recommended training: Construction OSHA 30-Hour
• OSHA 10 Hour Minimum
• Strong Conflict Resolution Skills
• Required training within first 3 months of employment: First Aid CPR & AED, Construction OSHA 10-Hour, New-Hire Safety Orientation – Parts 1 and 2, Hazard Communication/GHS and Accident Investigation & Reporting and SWPPP Training
• Ability to effectively schedule projects
