The Director of IT Operations is responsible for planning, building, implementing, and managing the next generation of IT infrastructure and operational processes, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure cloud services. This role is crucial to the success of the company's digital transformation and data initiatives. The Director will lead a team of system, production, automation, and network operations professionals, collaborating with engineering, information systems, data, and security teams to establish and manage the direction, budget, plans, and actions required for a successful migration to the cloud and the provision of reliable, secure, scalable, and performant IT infrastructure and platform services.
Responsibilities:
Functional:
- Manage strategic external partnerships.
- Shape and model the company's values and culture.
- Partner with IT teams to execute technology and organizational strategies.
- Employ automation and infrastructure as code practices.
- Drive cultural changes for agile and DevSecOps practices.
- Take ownership and execute in collaboration with IT peers and stakeholders.
- Anticipate future trends and ensure IT efforts align with organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain change management processes.
- Implement continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
- Maintain understanding of business processes and technology stack alignment.
- Establish metrics and accountability reporting for operations cost and performance.
- Enhance corporate security posture in collaboration with IT Security.
- Ensure a reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-effective IT operations capability.
- Lead IT due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to establish transformation direction, technology requirements, roadmaps, and funding.
- Manage resources, budgets, and optimize cloud resource costs.
- Implement proactive monitoring capabilities.
- Drive continual learning and professional development for self and the team.
- Develop and implement IT infrastructure improvements, focusing on stability, scalability, availability, and latency.
- Recruit, develop, and retain highly competent and accountable team members.
- Establish information system metrics and manage budgets.
- Establish business continuity and incident recovery capabilities.
- Lead a high-performance team, fostering inclusivity, growth mindset, and diversity.

- Support hiring and onboarding of IT team members.

Compliance:
- Escalate compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
- Communicate compliance requirements to stakeholders.
- Adhere to applicable federal and state compliance requirements.
Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong analytical and technical capabilities for process improvement and problem-solving.
- Experience recruiting and building IT operations teams.
- Experience with IT General Controls.
- Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
- Comprehensive knowledge of performance scaling and disaster recovery architecture and operations.
- Curiosity, initiative, and results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of networking, storage, virtualization, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, web services, security, and integration.
- Proven experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in planning and implementing enterprise-level IT infrastructure and operations solutions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a technical discipline.
- Critical thinking and business acumen.
- 5 years' experience planning, deploying, and managing Microsoft Azure resources.
- Ability to manage fully remote teams.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and processes.
- Ability to lead teams through ambiguity and complexity.
Preferred Requirements:
- Advanced certifications in Microsoft Azure.
