The Role


The Director, HR Leader will serve as the HR business partner and people leader for a defined employee population, working in a hybrid model, including three days per week from the Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate has a collaborative working style and experience working within a fast-paced, professional services organization with multiple locations. This position will oversee the employee lifecycle EXCEPT for talent acquisition. This is not a recruitment role.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Support and promote company values and culture throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Provide knowledgeable counsel and coaching to senior leaders in their roles and cultivate mid-level and up-and coming managers to evolve to leadership thinking and actions
  • Bring about conflict resolution and/or negotiations around employee issues
  • Lead in the development and delivery of all HR services and programs
  • Guide senior management on company policies, compensation, benefits, and employment law
  • Partner with senior leaders to define and execute the business and talent agenda
  • Foster and propel a learning environment through an insightful understanding of current needs and analysis of future possibilities
  • Collaborate and contribute to ideas and execution of broader talent strategies and best practices, including future of work, employer branding, EVP, onboarding, talent management, JEDI and retention
  • Build and sustain employee engagement and strong employee relations for a defined employee population


The Experience That Will Contribute To Your Success


  • Experience coaching and counseling senior leaders and executives
  • Broad knowledge of HR practices including performance management, employee relations, onboarding, compensation/rewards & recognition
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and with ease
  • Organizational development experience including proven ability to influence and drive change with teams at all levels
  • Strong business acumen and proven ability to develop HR tools and programs to achieve business goals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Established expertise handling and resolving sensitive employee issues
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years related human resources experience within a communications agency or other professional services environment
  • Ability to effectively present information to stakeholders


The anticipated salary range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
