About the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football team and a member of the National Football League’s AFC South Division. The Jaguars are one of the NFL’s youngest franchises, playing their first regular season home game on September 3, 1995 in Jacksonville, Fla., and have since won four division titles. The Jaguars are owned by Shahid Khan, a visionary leader whose businesses include Flex-N-Gate, Fulham Football Club, All Elite Wrestling, Bold Events and Iguana Investments. Since 2012, Mr. Khan’s impact on the Northeast Florida community has exceeded $500 million, including charitable giving through the Jaguars Foundation, capital improvements to EverBank Stadium and the creation of Daily’s Place, which hosts upwards of 40 concerts a year. Over the next several years, the Jaguars and Iguana Investments will build a new Sports Performance Center to house all football operations and launch Phase 1 of the Shipyards, a complete reimagination of the riverfront which will include a Four Seasons hotel, office building and modernized marina.

Summary
Under the leadership of the Chief Communications Officer, develop, communicate and participate in the execution of a football communications strategy for the Jaguars and upon occasion, other related entities, including the Jaguars Foundation, Iguana Investments, 1st DownTown Jacksonville and all other business endeavors. Develop and maintain relationships with members of the local, national and international media in a professional and strategic manner while serving as a reliable resource for information, thereby enhancing the reputation of the team, creating new fans locally and abroad and protecting the integrity and credibility of the organization and its personnel. While reporting to the Director of Football Communications, serve as a conduit between the football public relations department and the football operation, while also providing proactive media outreach, facilitating daily inquiries and executing interview requests for football players and staff.
Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise all Publications, while actively participating in key, top-line items/notes/messages.
  • Process and execute interview opportunities for players from local/national/international media outlets.
  • Interface with key facility management stakeholders at both home venue and team’s sports performance center.
  • Supervise, mentor and cultivate professional talents of Public Relations Coordinator and Public Relations Associate.
  • Serve as a lead media relations representative in the Jaguars locker room.
  • Lead Football Communications' weekly scheduling efforts and communicate accordingly with pertinent local/national/international media outlets.
  • Lead all communicative efforts for all Jaguars transactions, working closely with Football Administration and when appropriate, share news with all relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Assist Director, Communications with all departmental budgeting efforts.
  • Supervise Weekly Notes/Media Guide/Weekly Release, while actively participating in key, top-line items/notes/messages.
  • Oversee the dissemination and proper execution of all football-related communications.
  • Help execute player relations to assure appropriate participation (in accordance with NFL rules) in various sponsorship appearances, marketing engagements, autograph signings and Jaguars events.
  • Coordinate Football Communications efforts with Football Operations with Senior Manager of Team Logistics, Senior Manager of Team Operations and Manager of Football Operations and Facilities.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships at all levels across the organization and externally.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage across multiple companies.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Strong sense of personal initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • At least five years of experience in developing and implementing strategic communication plans.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
Preferred
  • Experience working for with a professional sports organization or high-major collegiate sports program.
  • A strong grasp of NFL, its rich history and the Jaguars’ evolution as a franchise in Jacksonville.
  • A proven track record of working with premium athletes, coaches and/or executives on how to best position themselves and their teams.
