SCOPE


The Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion reports to the Senior Vice President of HR. This newly created position will provide thought leadership and oversight for developing, executing and maintaining impactful programs and initiatives for supporting an organization culture that values equity, diversity and inclusiveness. This Director is also responsible for developing and fostering the integration of best practices and procedures across March of Dimes and promotes DEI initiatives with external partners. This position works closely with the Human Resources to ensure consistency in all HR policies, procedures and hiring practices in relation to DEI to ensure that all employees from all racial and ethnic identities, ages, nationalities, social and economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religious, political and ideological perspectives, and physical and mental abilities are able to thrive and be engaged.



RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with senior leaders to propel integration of diversity, equity and inclusion strategy is present in all facets of the business and reflected in organizational strategic plan
  • Identification of potential organizations that align with the organizations mission to create cross collaborative efforts resulting in driving our health equity initiatives
  • Develop, oversee, and advance organization’s internal and external DEI strategy, and other initiatives that foster a culture of inclusion that aligns with organizational strategic plan and executed throughout all business units.
  • Acts as company liaison with government agencies concerning affirmative action and equal employment opportunities. Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Foster and cultivate relationships with national service partners resulting in year over year growth
  • Develop and drive diversity strategy for board recruitment strategy at market level
  • Assist in the development of strategic relationships with corporate donors, benefactors, industry, and local, state, regional and national organizations to increase revenue opportunities and funding of mission programs.
  • Manage deliverables, timelines and budgets related to ensure successful execution and measurable impact of DEI strategy
  • Strategy and Partnerships:
  • Drive efforts in concert with Human Resources, department leadership and hiring managers to develop strategic hiring and retention efforts to attract and retain a highly talented, diverse workforce
  • Maintain ongoing DEI metrics and dashboards and providing leadership with analysis of data to drive decisions and improvement.
  • Measurement and Reporting
  • Collect and analyze statistical data to evaluate the organizations population in accordance with diversity standards and goals.
  • Creating organization scorecard to track results by organizational, functional levels
  • Report to board and leadership on quarterly metrics and results
  • Utilize assessment tools to translate data to identify opportunities for improvement and influencing decisions pertaining to DEI strategy
  • Research and develop metrics for measuring the impact of DEI initiatives.
  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders, develop training opportunities addressing all dimensions of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Training, Development and ERG Oversight
  • Build employee developmental programs in areas such as cultural competencies and cultivating and retaining future leaders from diverse backgrounds
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the organization providing solutions, training, and recommendations that support managers and employees in navigation of all DEI related matters
  • Oversight and expansion of all Employee Resource Groups ensuring diverse representation and ERG impact and productivity. Work with ERG groups to ensure execution of their respective goals and objectives. Develop succession planning for ERG group leadership.



QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Results-oriented professional able to develop and execute diversity initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices
  • An understanding of creating high performing ERG groups, talent programs, and metric-driven initiatives to increase representation of talent from underrepresented group
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Adept at creating and strengthening partnerships, and aligning an array of diversity efforts throughout the organization
  • 5-7 plus years of directly related work experience in increasingly responsible positions
  • Education: Master’s degree preferred in a relevant field from an accredited institution
