Description


SUMMARY This position will be responsible for leading the Continuous Improvement Culture at AAR Landing Gear Services in Miami. Primary responsibility will be for incumbent to develop our operating system and to implement that system in all areas of the business. Additional responsibilities will include directing process improvement opportunities and, while fostering a team-based environment, supporting continuous improvement goals in all areas of the company. The successful candidate will be a natural change agent with a talent for facilitating results oriented continuous improvement events. Knowledge of blue chip company continuous improvement methodology will be highly beneficial.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and manage all process improvement functions for the facility for data-based, cost-effective solutions to business problems that provide measurable cost savings and/or revenue enhancement, reduction or elimination of non-value-added work and increased prevention of defects Assist in the creation of performance metrics, reporting and improvement targets for all areas of the company Drive culture change to instill focus on fact-based management practices, the use of Six Sigma and other problem solving methodologies Increase standardization of work processes Ensure that all process improvement events are properly documented and effectively communicated Support project teams in process quality activities by educating, coaching and mentoring others on process improvement philosophy, tools and application Travel as required Other duties as assigned by General Manager


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AARs policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position has two direct reports as well as supervisory responsibility for advocates from the floor who are in the department on a rotating basis.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Minimum of 5 years experience in implementing LEAN in a production/process-driven environment, or a minimum of 5 years experience in aircraft production and maintenance with a solid background of lean implementation. -FAA and A&P licenses are preferred. Previous management/supervisory experience is required. Minimum certification as Green Belt in Lean / 6 Sigma is preferred.
