Job Description

Carolina Foods is the maker of Duchess Brand snacks and creator of one of America's first Honey Buns. The CI Engineer is responsible to identify, lead, develop, and execute solutions for performance improvements and loss elimination through strategic productivity, capacity solutions, and continuous improvement efforts. This role also serves as a technical resource and liaison to drive successful implementation of highly automated baking lines. This is a hands-on position with immediate responsibility including troubleshooting operational problems and researching and utilizing opportunities to enhance operations.

Responsibilities:


  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, providing root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills through leading meetings, facilitating meetings, and preparing written communications.
  • Develop SOPs for new automation equipment.
  • Lead TPM activities for both new and existing bakery equipment.
  • Facilitate rapid changeover activities including principles, target setting and leading successful efforts reducing changeover time to achieve challenging objectives.
  • Assist with developing material handling processes for new bakery location including movement of raw materials to the line, packaging materials to the line and finished goods to shipping.
  • Lead training on SOPs for Production, Sanitation and Maintenance team members.
  • Comply with all workplace GMP and Food Safety regulations and ensure timely closure of agreed corrective actions.
  • Deliver innovative continuous improvement ideas to reduce downtime caused by maintenance and equipment failures.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a results oriented, challenging environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make independent and sound decisions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Experience preferred.
  • 2-4 years of manufacturing experience, food, beverage, or baking experience preferred.
