Job Description
Nemours is seeking an experienced and passionate lean facilitator to join a dynamic team of improvement specialists, strategists, portfolio and project managers. The Continuous Improvement Specialist II drives sustainable improvements across the enterprise, delivering breakthrough results while building cultural change throughout the organization. This position requires strong Lean background and hands-on leadership skills, with an insatiable passion for learning. A roll-up-your-sleeves, hands on collaborator who is eager to support a transformational strategy and dynamic operation.
The Continuous Improvement Specialist II is responsible for the implementation of continuous improvement mindset, management system, and methods by functioning as an analyst, facilitator, coach, consultant and/or project manager as required. This individual will work throughout the Enterprise with a broad range of stakeholder groups, focusing on clinical, operational and enterprise systems areas. This work includes point improvements, larger scale, value streams, and strategic work such as clinical standard work development and goal deployment. The individual in this role must be able to flex their style and approach to support the needs of each improvement to ensure successful execution and outcomes.
Essential Functions:
  • Facilitates, guides, and supports enterprise, departmental, or cross-departmental continuous improvement work as directed by executive leadership. This encompasses preparation and planning for workshops and value stream/model lines, implementation, and periodic audits of the work completed.
  • A strong application knowledge of Lean mindset and management system, and related CI tools, including Standard Work, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, 5S, Waste, etc. Assures adherence to continuous improvement standards and methodologies across the enterprise Provides formal continuous improvement training as well as serving as an educational resource, coach, and consultant.
  • Prospects and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement, coach leaders to identify needs, works through organizational barriers to successfully implement, and achieve and sustain improvement targets.
  • Participates in tactical planning for the continuous improvement work to be done in concert with Nemours leadership. Research internal and external benchmarks, develops, maintains, and revises work plans as needed. Monitors outcomes. Integrates work with other departmental initiatives and revises as needed.
  • Uses knowledge of waste elimination tools and techniques to identify clinical and operational opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops and refines continuous improvement training programs and materials.
  • Mentors and coaches department team members in onboarding and training.
  • Demonstrates the ability to challenge the status-quo and encourage breakthrough thinking to ensure continuous improvement principles are implemented.
  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in lean facilitation, mindset, management system & methods
  • Extensive knowledge of lean management systems, tools, and methodologies and demonstrated coaching/mentoring of individuals to conduct workshops independently. Healthcare experience strongly preferred
