Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional Scientist I/II to join the translational biology group and contribute to translational biology drug discovery efforts. The candidate will be responsible for designing, characterizing, and deploying stem cell/3D models and other cellular assays to be utilized in early drug discovery for multiple therapeutic programs. Collaborate in a matrixed team of scientists responsible for validation of new targets and knowledge building across pathobiological pathways and patient populations including those in neurology, neuromuscular disease, mitochondrial dysfunction, and diseases caused by genomic instability and nucleotide repeat expansion disorders. This position will be based out of UCB’s Boston R&D Hub located in Cambridge, MA.

NOTE: We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we regretfully are unable to sponsor visas at any point for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement complex translational assays (2D to 3D models) to increase disease biology understanding, target validation, efficacy testing and PK/PD modeling
  • Document and analyze data and present to internal teams
  • Differentiate iPSCs into different cell types for translational cellular assays
  • Execute biochemical and cell-based functional assays

Requirements:

  • PhD with 0-2 years in industry, or MS Degree with 6+ years in industry with a background in biology, cellular biology, bioengineering or related field

Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and enthusiasm for learning. Experience in growing and differentiating iPSCs and performing imaging-based assays is a plus
  • Strong understanding of human relevant cellular assay development, with direct experience with mammalian 2D and 3D cell culture, molecular and biochemical assays.
  • Independent scientist who can drive new areas with minimal supervision but also to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
