Overview


Purpose Statement/Position Summary:


Children’s Hospital Los Angeles maintains a best in class marketing and communications function within its institution. As part of an award-winning team, you will be responsible for planning and executing marketing efforts that directly support the growth and business goals of the institution—ensuring that the right channels are leveraged to secure the attention and ultimately conversion of the right individuals at the right time.


In this role, you will be responsible for driving all aspects of the consumer decision journey from awareness to loyalty, focusing on increasing consumer engagement. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with senior executives and internal stakeholders to create and develop marketing plans that drive growth in patients, donors, team members, and more and will establish the roadmap, goals, and objectives for all marketing efforts to achieve the institution’s goals.


Marketing to consumers through digital channels will increasingly be a key focus and the expectation will be that this individual will develop optimized, data-driven campaigns across the enterprise. We seek a professional who approaches work with a game-changing attitude, has a deep understanding of the motivations and buying patterns of constituents and a desire to make a true impact on the organization while constantly evolving the team’s roles and capabilities to ensure that business goals are met.


  • Direct the strategic development and execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Deliver on business goals, monitoring and adapting performance based on KPIs.
  • Monitor industry trends in health care, nonprofit, health system and academic medicine to make recommendations related to spend, channel growth and more.
  • Manage, coach and develop marketing team and constantly evolve the team’s role and capabilities.
  • Develop strong partnerships with the leaders of enterprise business units to generate alignment and fuel learnings for the team and department that influence future campaigns.
  • Strategically and creatively allocate marketing spends to deliver maximum impact and ROI across target audiences.


You will be expected to partner closely with fellow leaders in the department. For example, partnership with the Marketing Operations leader to measure and track campaign performance and gain insights to improve strategy; partnership with Public Relations to align on public relations campaigns where appropriate; partnership with Strategic Content team to secure world-class assets to fulfill on marketing campaigns that support growth and increasingly secure higher brand standing for the enterprise.


Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience


10+ years’ experience in driving successful marketing efforts in a matrixed organization.


  • Must be able to understand the motivations, buying patterns and psychographics for target audiences.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of direct response, digital media, online advertising platforms & related metrics.
  • Solid knowledge applying qualitative and quantitative research methodologies with deep understanding of digital methods and techniques for online marketing and lead generation;
  • Well-versed in marketing fundamentals including but not limited to: social media marketing, SEO/SEM, CRM, AB Testing, landing page optimization, customer segmentation, customer journey maps, etc.
  • Fluent in data retrieval and analytics tools and methods (e.g., Google Analytics, etc.) for measuring ROI, prioritizing and growing adoption;
  • Demonstrated success in ground-up customer growth and engagement strategies, including building and managing customer acquisition strategies;
  • Healthcare experience preferred; experience specific to academic medicine a plus.
  • Experience in Digital marketing a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about the institution’s multi-faceted objectives and be able to effectively develop and implement marketing plans to successfully meet those objectives.


Education/Licensure/Certification


BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred.


Pay Scale Information


USD $99,424.00 - USD $178,963.20

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
