About The Position


The Designer (Creative) will provide technical and subject matter expert support for the graphic design of branded materials. The incumbent will be responsible for the graphic design of branded print, electronic and other materials, as well as media campaign development and implementation. The Designer will work collaboratively across the organization to help meet department needs related to print and electronic internal and external communications. The incumbent will be highly creative and organized, have proven print and electronic design experience with a public agency, and possess knowledge of the industry standards in print design and content accessibility.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Develops creative design briefs for projects by meeting with internal clients and gathering information and data to clarify design issues.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
  • Maintains brand standards to ensure a consistent look and feel throughout the agency’s printed materials.
  • Develops media campaigns to support the marketing and advertising of CalOptima Health and its programs. Collaborates with internal staff and external agencies on campaigns.
  • Creates and maintains tools used for content presentation, such as PowerPoint slides and infographics.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the most current industry technology, tools and trends to implement improvements to CalOptima Health materials.
  • Oversees and maintains graphic files, including CalOptima Health logos, photography and artwork.
  • Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
  • Develops design concepts for branded collateral materials, including brochures, ads, postcards, newsletters, flyers, invitations, and other items as needed.


Experience & Education


  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above is also qualifying.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years of professional print design and production experience required.

  • Work Environment: Employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee may be required to move about the organization. Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time, as well as work at the computer for long periods. Employee is required to use hands and fingers, especially for typing on the computer and using the mouse. Must also be able to reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift heavy office supply boxes. Employee must be able to talk and hear, particularly for regular communication on the phone.
