The base salary range for a Dental Business Analyst I is $44,000 to $70,000. The base salary range for a Dental Business Analyst II is $54,000 to $86,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure & equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Dental Business Analyst Overview:

  • This is a multiple level position with increased responsibilities at each level.
  • Performs business process improvement and policy analysis work for corporate strategic initiatives. Gathers, analyzes, documents and validates the needs of business stakeholders.
  • Creates and assists more senior business analysts with business process improvements and analysis work for departmental or corporate strategy initiatives.
  • Responsible for approval of Standard Operating Procedures based on process improvements identified. In addition, the role will require auditing our various Blue Partner plans and to ensure our claims vendor is meeting the service level agreements (SLA) established and benefits are coded accurately.
  • Primary responsibilities will be to perform duties regarding daily operational processes and member/group inquiry inventory related to claims, enrollment, billing and access to care issues.
  • Helps to identify trends and performs root cause analysis to determine business process improvements that will streamline operations and increase operational efficiencies.
  • Provides functional requirement documents including inputs, processing steps and outputs to meet users' needs to assist developers in successfully translating and achieving project goals.
  • Creates training documents and maintains project files and updates. Facilitates training on new systems and/or process implementations.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversees testing of each delivered objective to ensure defects are resolved before user acceptance testing. Coordinates with project team members to obtain information related to functionality as it relates to objective development.
  • Works with multiple departments, business partners, and/or vendors to solicit, collect, analyze, document and communicate business requirements based on current and future business needs.
  • Creates and provides functional requirement documents to, and reviews with, project team members to identify and resolve any issues.
  • Contributes to business process improvement and policy analysis work for corporate strategic initiatives. Serves as the project lead for multiple medium and large complex projects. Gathers, analyzes, documents and validates the needs of business stakeholders. Provides functional requirement documents including inputs, processing steps and outputs to meet users' needs to assist developers in successfully translating and achieving project goals.
  • Conducts day-to-day management of auditing group and individual benefits in addition to reviewing trends from our voice of the customer surveys. Promotes client satisfaction by ensuring our quality service levels are on track. Tracks and monitors quality performance by our vendors to ensure LSV is in compliance with Center Medicare Services (CMS).
  • Assists, participates and receives training in department process improvements and policy analysis. Assists with developing training documentation, preparing and/or delivering training. Creates training documents and maintains project files and updates. Facilitates training on new systems and/or process implementations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Dental Membership and Billing in addition to Dental Claims Processing.
  • Ability to synthesize data from divergent sources and create a final product with a consistent voice, look, and feel.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Basic to strong background in Compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to address a wide range of audiences.
  • Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Word, Excel, and Power Point. MS Visio, Project and Access skills preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize work flow and maintain attention to detail within time constraints.
  • Basic to strong working knowledge of the dental insurance industry and business related operations and processes.
  • Ability to translate between technical and business language.

Required Education and Experience:

  • The Dental Business Analyst I would have a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience with 6 months - 2 years experience with data analytics or equivalent military experience.
  • The Dental Business Analyst II would have a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience with 2-4 years experience process analysis and improvement experience and 1-2 years of Compliance experience or or equivalent military experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of business process analysis and improvement experience.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving experience.
  • Experience with process mapping/process documentation.
  • Experience with data and trending analysis, documenting process improvements.
  • CDT Coding knowledge.
