The Dean, College of Business reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of the College of Business serves as administrative officer of the College of Business and, as such, should provide vision and leadership to the college. Areas of responsibility in this position include articulating strategic vision; managing the strategic planning process; ensuring academic integrity in college programs; overseeing faculty and staff selection, retention, promotion, and evaluation processes; encouraging and supporting excellence in teaching, research/scholarly activity and service; promoting collegiality and collaborative relationships internally and externally; managing the fiscal well-being of the college; and promoting alumni and donor relations.

This role can be performed remotely with the understanding that visits to our campus in Irvine, CA on an as needed basis is mandatory. Approximately 25%.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in a college-related discipline.
  • A distinguished record of accomplishment in the areas of teaching, research, and service
  • A record of commitment to program growth and academic excellence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership, inclusive excellence, and personal and professional integrity.Supports Vice President of Academic Affairs/CAO with curriculum initiatives
  • Evidence of strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards.
  • A record of progressively more responsible administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management.

Specific job responsibilities for the Dean include:

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Working to maintain and cultivate relationships with alumni and friends of the college in order to secure financial resources through development efforts and initiatives.
  • Fostering an environment of innovation, collegiality, collaboration, inclusivity, and support where faculty, staff, and students thrive.
  • Identifying, attracting, and strategically managing financial resources for the college.
  • Fostering and supporting relationships with the regional business community, in particular encouraging and supporting business and economic outreach activities and fostering collaboration among the outreach units.
  • Managing a strategic and fiscally sound annual budget.
  • Overseeing the recruitment, appointment, review, and professional development of faculty and staff.
  • Working collegially and collaboratively with leadership across campus to support the priorities of the campus.
  • Providing internal leadership and mentorship to department chairs, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Supporting college branding and marketing efforts to enhance the college’s visibility and reputation.
  • Providing transformative leadership and advocacy for the college and university
  • Supporting and advancing college and university assessment efforts and strategies.
  • Representing the college and university to governing and accreditation bodies, community at local, regional, national, and international levels.
  • Promoting the value of education as envisioned by the university
  • Creating a strategic vision and managing strategic planning processes aligned with broader university strategic goals.
  • Providing leadership to the Program Advisory Board, fostering engagement with the college both internally and externally.
  • Providing leadership to initiatives that foster and enhance inclusive excellence as well as multicultural and global competence in the college.
  • Assuring ongoing quality and continuous improvement in the college’s academic program array at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and in both traditional and online programs.
