Description

• Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
• Prepare paperwork to help route children to proper classes, testing, tutoring, counseling services, medical services, and social services, so that each child can achieve optimum academic and social development.
• Evaluate enrollment documents for students at Residential Facilities to ensure appropriate class scheduling.
• Engage in dialogue with parents in reference to child academic and social needs; provide parenting skill training as appropriate to help their children.
• Serve on the Central Child Study Team (CSST) Itinerant services as chair or member.
• Provide guidance consultation to school administrator, teachers, staff, students, and parents regarding individual and/or group needs.
• Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in guidance and counseling.
• Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
• Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of guidance programs and make changes based on finding.
• Provide crisis counseling, small group counseling, individual counseling, and referral to agencies as appropriate.
• Provide guidance and counseling to students, teachers, and parents and assist with the use of data to write CIP strategies and goals.
• Serve as test coordinator.
• Serve as resource for in-service needs of teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated computer literacy.
• Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use accepted theories and techniques appropriate to school counseling.
• 3 years classroom teaching experience
• Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling; valid Texas Counseling Certificate.
• Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
