Job Description


      Position Summary:
      To serve as a member of the Growing Through Grief Team in providing grief support to children and teens in the school grief support program.




      Education/Experience:

      1. Professional education, clinical training, certification, experience and/or licensure in a mental health and/or health care field. Masters level required. Computer proficiency.




      Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

      1. Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.

      Additional Information:
      Park Nicollet Growing Through Grief will be expanding it's Burnsville school-based Grief Counselor position from one day a week to five days a week starting in the 2023-24 school year.

      Burnsville School District and Park Nicollet Growing Through Grief have been in partnership supporting childhood berievement and grief for over 20 years. Burnsville School District is rated #2 for most diverse school districts in MN. The district has 11 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools with 7,745 students.

      The Grief Counselor expansion will involve growing the already establish relationships in the secondary schools and extending support to the elementary schools. The three main modalities of care include peer support groups, 1:1 counseling support, and collaborative death related crisis support.

      This position requires a master's degree, or working toward a master's degree. The position will provide grief counseling support thourgh arts, games, and supportive counseling. Curriculum development is part of the position.

      The work schedule is M-F, day hours, with limited summer hours available.
