Description

• Assumes additional activities and responsibilities requested by the Director of Health Services or designee.
• Ensure department audiological equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) guidelines and department procedures.
• Provide Health Services staff educational growth activities and DSHS hearing certification in accordance with state guidelines, District policy and department procedures as requested.
• Collaborate with staff nurse, other school professionals, and parents to maximize communication and assistance in understanding hearing evaluations and screenings, medical referrals, and management of students with hearing loss.
• Assist with compiling data for submission of the annual DSHS Hearing Report.
• Conduct audiological evaluations, re-evaluations and State mandated screenings (e.g., Pure Tone, OAE, Immittance, sound booth) on students referred by the school nurse or other school professional staff in accordance with State requirements, District policy and department procedures.
• Attend Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD), S504 and other multidisciplinary team meetings as requested.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A) is preferred
• Knowledge of current technology, material and equipment used in the field of audiology
• Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively to all levels of health services staff, campus staff and other school professionals
• 3+ years of professional experience is preferred
• Must be self motivated with an ability to complete assignments in an independent setting
• Ability to practice within a professional code of ethics and scope of practice in accordance with state rules, regulations, district policy and department procedures
• Certification in Audiology, Texas Department of State Health Services certification in hearing screening, and CPR/AED certification are required
• Utilize evidenced based practice to effectively collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Master's degree from an accredited university in Audiology is required
