Job Summary
OSU-Cascades is seeking a Counselor. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, professional faculty position. This position will be located in Bend, OR.

The purpose of this position is to provide personal counseling to students experiencing psychological, social and/or other difficulties that negatively impact their student success here at OSU-Cascades. OSU-Cascades provides resources to students and this resource contributes to retention and academic and personal success.
OSU-Cascades is a small friendly campus, often selected by students for small class size and intimate environment. The smaller student and faculty populations encourage a level of interdisciplinary interaction which far exceeds that normally experienced at a larger institution.
Bend, nearly the geographic center of the State, is Central Oregon’s most populous city. It is bounded on the east by the High Desert and on the west by the Cascades Mountains, both of which provide a multitude of recreational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
60% – Counseling and Consultation.

  • Provide individual and group counseling to OSU-Cascades students utilizing appropriate assessment methods and brief, time sensitive treatments; maintain up-to date files, write reports and accumulate job-related client information commensurate with the current standards of the profession.

  • Maintain and promote the highest ethical and professional standards commensurate with training and licensure.

  • Provide daytime crisis support and intervention.

  • Consult with community mental health practitioners to provide appropriate treatment and referrals.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, parents and students on mental health issues.

20% – Outreach and Prevention.
  • Organize and lead workshops and group sessions for students. Prepare and present psychoeducational programming to raise awareness and educate the community about emotional and mental health issues for college students.

  • Conduct trainings for faculty and staff.
  • Promote awareness of health and wellness activities.

15% – Program Development and Planning.
  • Assist with planning, development and evaluation of counseling services in order to maintain current best practices in college counseling.
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings; pursue professional development in service of the responsibilities of the position and the profession.

5% – Other Duties as Assigned.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

What You Will Need
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy from a regionally accredited institution.

Current professional licensure as a Professional Licensed Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Associate status is acceptable. Possible supervision available.
Two years of professional clinical experience.
Experience organizing and facilitating workshops and groups on a variety of mental health related topics.

Demonstrated professional oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have
2-5 years professional experience working in a college or university setting.
Possession of Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor level 1 or higher, with ability to assess and treat addiction concerns.
Experience treating and diagnosing addictions.
Knowledge and understanding of local community mental health resources.
Experience maintaining professional Electronic Medical Records.
Ability to obtain licenses in other states to provide telehealth services.
