Role Description
We are seeking a Corporate Strategy Analyst to work closely with and report into our Executive Chairman. You will play an active part in shaping and executing Fareportal’s business strategy by operating at the intersection of thought leadership, data analysis, industry trends in travel and e-commerce, and Fareportal’s unique business needs. You will lead and support efforts to identify strategies, develop initiatives, and execute plans to align Fareportal with its goals. This will be high visibility work sponsored by the Executive Chairman. You will conduct internal and external research, analyse data, develop actionable data-driven recommendations, and present your findings to our Executive Chairman. You will assist the Executive Chairman on most responsibilities including board related matters and corporate strategy. You will also assist the Executive Chairman in analysing financial data for all companies globally. Alert the Executive Chairman on business performance for various entities. Assist the Executive Chairman on all board committees. Assist the Executive Chairman in coordinating Travel Plans and Calendars with the Executive Assistants. Assist the Executive Chairman in making critical decisions on project investments and new country launches. Help review financial models for new projects including IRR and NPV based on discounted Cash flow models. Assist the Executive Chairman on Corporate development efforts and M&A opportunities. Assist the Executive Chairman in long-term strategic planning for OTG.
The key responsibilities for the Corporate Strategy Analyst are:
- Must be flexible to do work that the Executive Chairman needs including Calendar management and other work.
- Collaborate with Law firms or other consulting firms as needed
- Build executive-level presentations and deliverables
- Financial data analysis and alerting of business performance for all global entities to the Executive Chairman
- Build and test hypotheses based on research, data, stakeholder interviews, and observation
- Work closely with Fareportal’s Executive Chairman/Founder.
- Synthesize unstructured information and data into meaningful, actionable recommendations
- Develop relationships and build credibility with Fareportal colleagues at all levels
- Be agile and confident enough to throw out invalid hypotheses, learn fast and continue moving forward
- Develop, maintain and evolve an informed perspective on the current state of Fareportal’s business health
- Must be willing to travel for work to visit various global business locations or conferences
- Gather, organize and analyse internal and external business data relevant to Fareportal’s business strategy
- Manage the Board calendar for Executive Chairman
- Assist the Executive Chairman on Board duties and board presentations
- Conduct comprehensive research on travel/e-commerce industry trends, best practices, competitive landscape, and relevant macroeconomic conditions using an exhaustive set of tools from recognized sources. This research must go beyond and much deeper than simple web searches.
Required Qualifications
- Have experience and understand corporate finance and valuation such as valuing new businesses and/or projects. Comfortable with Excel financial models, Discounted cash flow models and IRR and NPV.
- Enhanced business acumen with the ability to quickly assess, analyse and understand how businesses compete in a mature but fast-paced industry
- Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to tailor written and verbal messaging to audiences of varying levels and expertise in the pursuit of obtaining clear understanding, alignment, and/or buy-in
- Ability to bring ideas to reality by gathering/analysing complex information, synthesizing conclusions and ideas relevant to Fareportal, building cohesive strategies with actionable recommendations, and organizing the work required to drive the strategies
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or related field
- Ability to probe, seek to understand, ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, dig past symptoms to find root causes, think in terms of frameworks and avoid one-size-fits-all thinking
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct rigorous research and data analysis from unstructured information gathered from disparate sources
- Advanced skills with Powerpoint, Excel, and Word
- Agility to continue driving work forward in the face of unexpected course corrections, changes in scope, invalid assumptions and hypotheses, market volatility, etc.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to break down complex work into manageable packages, identify dependencies, sequence tasks and activities, develop roadmaps and project plans.
- 3-5 years of experience in a corporate strategy role or in management consulting performing client-facing strategy work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or understanding of corporate development and M&A is a plus
- MBA
- Practical experience developing strategies for and executing large-scale business initiatives
- Experience working in the travel industry or in a management consulting firm aligned to the e-commerce/travel/hospitality industry highly desired
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Project, Visio, Tableau/Power BI
- Experience with Refinitiv, CapitalIQ and EDGAR
