When you join Verizon
Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.
What you’ll be doing...
The Corporate Development Manager is a critical member of a small, nimble team that develops and executes Verizon’s inorganic strategic goals, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic initiatives that have a transformative impact on the business. You will work closely with and support transaction leads throughout the deal process. You will apply accounting and financial concepts to research potential acquisition targets, perform rigorous financial valuation analyses, and drive due diligence activities across large teams. Targets will span a broad range of industries within Telecom, Media, and Technology (“TMT”). Companies will vary in size from small, private, VC-backed companies to public enterprises with multibillion dollar market caps.
As part of Verizon’s broader Corporate Strategy team, you will work closely with strategy and business leads at the corporate and business unit levels to leverage insights from the market and industry to create and execute inorganic strategies that improve Verizon’s position. And, as an integral part of the deal team, you will also work closely with Finance leadership and interact daily with a wide range of corporate and functional groups. You will have opportunities for direct interaction with senior executives that go beyond visibility typically at this level of seniority.
- Presentation development for C-suite executive & board-level communication.
- Strategy assessment and associated research for specific inorganic strategies.
- Project work planning and coordination with internal and external constituencies.
- The full cycle of corporate development activities, including opportunity targeting and evaluation, primary/confirmatory due diligence, deal execution, and integration.
- Supporting the development of junior team members.
- Active monitoring and reporting of industry news and trends.
- Financial modeling, analysis and budgeting.
- Business case development and strategic analyses in support of acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic alliances.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Strong oral, written communication, and presentation development skills.
- Knowledge of financial research databases and tools such as Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, FactSet, Pitchbook.
- MBA or advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Liberal Arts.
- Ability to conduct research, analyze data, develop robust financial models and valuation analyses of private & public companies.
- Experience presenting to and working directly with senior executives.
- Five or more years of experience applying analytical and financial concepts at a leading investment bank, private equity / venture capital firm, consulting firm, or in a corporate development role.
- Experience in the telecom or technology industries.
If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
