Position Overview

Freedom Capital Markets (FCM) is seeking an M&A-focused Managing Director for our New York office. The Managing Director will help to establish FCM's M&A practice, spearheading the origination and execution of M&A and capital raising advisory assignments while supporting the origination of other capital markets solutions. Other job responsibilities may be as follows:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Source and execute M&A and capital raise transactions as part of the Investment Banking team, consistently exceeding client expectations.
  • Provide deal expertise and prepare/oversee the delivery of creative and timely pitches (with and without junior team members).
  • Balance the firm's risk appetite with client needs when making recommendations/proposals.
  • Actively develop, manage, and participate in the firm's business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Work with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion.
  • Conduct due diligence (e.g., client visits, analyzing business models, and reviewing industry trends and regulations comprehensively).
  • Analyze financial information (economic, industrial, and corporate developments) to produce forecasts of business, industry, and economic conditions for use in advising clients on deals.
  • Understand the complexity of transactions and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
  • Build and maintain relationships with client senior executives, focusing on the delivery of advice and analysis to those clients around key strategic, corporate finance, and capital markets issues and opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Recommend and take ownership of measures to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in recruiting and training activities.
  • Work alongside the Compliance team to ensure all FCM activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor client, industry, and regulatory agencies for potential changes affecting client portfolio and business needs.

Qualifications

  • Immensely detail-oriented and unparalleled work ethic.
  • Ability to work with little to no oversight, yet able to keep all stakeholders informed of project progress and key focus areas.
  • 10+ years of experience in Investment Banking and/or M&A advisory.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: the ability to wear many "hats" and have a positive attitude where no job is too small.
  • Relationships and experience working and negotiating with Private Equity.
  • A creative approach to analysis and work product.
  • Demonstrable ability to win business from new clients and develop new relationships.
  • FINRA Licenses: Series 7, 24, 63 & 79.
  • Experience advising on a broad range of strategic alternatives, including mergers, acquisitions, going-private transactions, joint ventures, divestitures, cross-border transactions, and tax-efficient structures.
  • Superb project management skills and the commitment to satisfying all customer (internal/external) demands – big or small – in a timely manner.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA / CFA strongly preferred.

Reporting Relationships

The Managing Director, M&A, reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
