Job Description
Microsoft has an immediate opening for an experienced Corporate Counsel, Workplace Investigator to join the Workplace Investigations Team.  This is an exciting and unique opportunity to contribute to Microsoft’s mission to empower everyone, everywhere to achieve more.  As part of our Workplace Investigations Team, you will conduct workplace investigations as we create and maintain a workplace culture where everyone can come and do their best work. 
Responsibilities
  • Make determinations regarding workplace behavior including company policies related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, family and romantic relationship conflicts of interest and sexually explicit or otherwise offensive materials. 
  • Independently lead and manage workplace investigations in an empathetic, fair, neutral, thorough and timely manner.   
  • Navigate a complex global organization structure with excellent communication skills. 
  • Conduct complex, professional interviews, prepare investigation findings, and convey ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
  • Respond proactively and develop insights to the tracking and trending of workplace investigation issues.  
  • Exercise considerable judgment and discretion in scenarios that are complex and highly sensitive, consulting with HR and legal counsel as appropriate to ensure consideration of local laws and cultural nuances.  
  • Frequently collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders and partners across different functions to drive innovation of workplace investigative practices
  • Partner with HR and other investigation teams to ensure investigation of employee relations issues in a comprehensive and timely manner. 
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience as a practicing attorney in the areas of employment law or workplace investigations
  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
  • Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree
  • OR Completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.
  • OR equivalent practice of law.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to collaborate and partner effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and leaders
  • Prior experience at a large international organization working on employment or investigation issues.
  • Client service focus and the ability to work independently and efficiently, prioritize demands and manage projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources practices
Legal Counsel IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
