DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Manage patent clearance and brand expansion activities, including by working closely with internal and external IP professionals to determine trademark and patent filing strategies.
  • Manage domain name disputes, including those conducted under Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) or similar.
  • Negotiate and resolve patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret non-litigation disputes.
  • Work closely with engineering departments and parent company on product technology issues that may impact claims or litigation
  • Draft and negotiate license agreements or other high-risk settlement agreements.
  • Communicate with and direct outside contacts, including outside counsel and consultants, on intellectual property matters
  • Provide legal advice to company departments, subsidiaries, and affiliates
  • Manage trademark opposition matters
  • Manage outside counsel in all facets of complex litigation, with an emphasis on IP litigation
  • Conduct in-house training seminars
  • Respond to various IP inquiries from, and provide legal advice to, Nintendo’s parent company, subsidiaries and other Nintendo of America departments
  • Maintain knowledge of current legal issues
  • Up to 15% travel

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
  • Law degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or related field; computer industry experience desirable. Registered Patent Attorney with the USPTO is a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of outstanding achievement and accomplishment
  • Membership in the Washington State Bar Association or other comparable state qualification
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a practicing intellectual property lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property laws with a focus on patent, trademark, and copyright law.
  • Must be willing to travel and work extended hours when necessary
  • Excellent drafting and verbal communication skills

This position includes a base salary range of $140,589 - $210,883 annually, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
