The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Counsel, Litigation to be based in San Juan, PR. We are entrepreneurial, fast- moving, and motivated by a desire to change the way that energy and electricity are delivered in Puerto Rico. We are looking for a motivated, highly experienced individual with shared beliefs and passion to come and help drive the journey.

What you will do:

• Develop and administer a litigation tracking system including making regular reports to the General Counsel regarding the status of litigation.
• Manage paralegals and other administrative support.
• Negotiate and draft settlement documents.
• Identify and engage appropriate outside counsel to represent Genera in legal proceedings while ensuring efficient use of company resources.
• Draft legal pleadings.
• Oversee and manage all aspects of litigation, arbitration, and other legal disputes, including developing litigation strategy, coordinating responses to discovery requests and, where necessary, representing Genera in legal proceedings.
• Coordinate with commercial and management teams in pre-litigation commercial disputes to identify claims and defenses.

What you bring:

• Strong writing ability and work ethic.
• Deadline and detail oriented.
• 6+ years of litigation experience at a law firm, other utility companies, or similar.
• Experience drafting legal documents, such as motions and discovery requests.
• Ability to work independently with limited direct oversight.
• Experience managing numerous claims and litigations through the entire dispute life cycle.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
