ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART
As the first museum to focus exclusively on storytelling through images, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art believes that visual storytelling can connect us and help shape a more just society. With a growing collection that encompasses artworks from across cultures, places, times, and mediums, including paintings, sculptures, murals, photography, comic art, book and magazine illustrations, and the arts of filmmaking, the Lucas Museum will explore narrative arts potential to prompt questions, invite opinions, inspire community, and move people to think about the impact of images on our world.
Co-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson and led by director and CEO Sandra Jackson-Dumont, the Lucas Museum was designed by renowned architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects with Stantec as executive architect and is under construction in Los Angeless Exposition Park. An 11-acre campus with extensive new green space designed by Studio-MLA will embrace the museums 300,000-square-foot building, which will feature expansive galleries, two state-of-the-art theaters, and dedicated spaces for learning and engagement, dining, retail, and events. .
Position Summary
The Coordinator, Learning and Engagement (Coordinator) will play an integral role in supporting all functions aligned with the Learning and Engagement divisions focus on visitor-centered engagement, dynamic and accessible programming for all ages, and collaboration rooted in mutually beneficial community relationships. Comprised of the departments of Youth and K-12 Programs, Public Programs and Creative Practice, and the museums Library, the division requires an energetic, highly organized, and collaborative colleague with a track record of highly effective multi-tasking and project management experience.
Reporting to the Managing Director of Learning and Engagement, the Coordinator will play a key role in knitting together the various activities of the division. They will a ssist with a wide range of projects, engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and coordinate information that communicates the divisions activities to staff as well as the public sphere. They will be an excellent communicator across platforms and able to work easily with a wide range of working styles and personality styles. As a thought partner to the team, you will contribute to the development of programs that aim to exceed the highest standards of accessibility and cultivate a sense of belonging among diverse constituents, both on the museums campus and in communities. The Coordinator will maintain deep awareness of the museums engagement programs and initiatives, helping to facilitate the execution of programmatic goals and operations that bear out the museums mission, vision, and values, and help to communicate their impact by preparing reports and presentations.

Responsibilities
  • Support division staff with program logistics, including ordering supplies, facilitating contracts, liaising with various partner contacts
  • Conduct collection research to contribute to program development and exhibition-related resources
  • Track outreach meetings and stakeholder contacts within Constituent Record Management system
  • Collaborate to achieve goals, whether in preparing presentations, creating interpretive resources, or organizing events
  • Schedule internal and external meetings, taking notes to ensure communication and follow through
  • Budget tracking and reporting
  • Support program evaluation and assessment, consolidating division information to share with internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead onboarding processes for new staff, iterating as needed
  • Coordinate project management across the division, especially to meet essential milestones on the timeline to the museums opening
  • Anticipate needs and creatively resolving issues that arise in a timely manner

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • 3-5 years related experience in non-profit, arts, museum, and/or relevant setting coordinating complex projects
  • Bachelors degree preferred
Skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing new ideas and iterating strategies for program enhancement
  • Experience managing facilities and logistics within educational settings and programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English; Spanish-language skills preferred
  • Extremely well-organized with excellent time-management and follow-through skills
  • Self-motivated with high initiative and resourcefulness
  • The ability to accurately interpret and synthesize data and to communicate findings using diagrams and written reports
  • Affinity for working with a wide range of age groups and talent abilities
  • Excellent judgement and diplomacy when working with all stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the proven ability to clearly communicate to a wide range of individuals from varied backgrounds
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite and InDesign
  • General knowledge of educational programs and systems
  • Excitement about narrative art
  • Broad familiarity with art making, art history, and a variety of arts programming preferred
  • Competent and proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
