Role: Communications Specialist 4
Location: 100% remote
Duration: 18+ month contract, with opportunity to convert to full-time or extension based on performance
Pay: starts at $40+/hour
Interview process: 1-2 IV's
Citizenship: USC or GC holder (cannot work with c2c or c2h for w2 purposes)

Ideal candidate: Previous experience as a lead with communications in a PM role and technology sector
Required Skills:
- Ability to work effectively across groups, drive successful workstreams and contribute to the success of others.
- Years of Experience Required – 8 or more years of experience as a communications manager in the tech sector, leading corporate communications programs, with a proven track record of running impactful internal communications strategies and programs, including events, newsletters, presentations, social media and other content distribution channels.
- Broad communications experience across a variety of marketing platforms including but not limited to web, email, e-newsletters, apps, video, podcasts, events, and familiarity with Microsoft products (SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams, Yammer/Viva, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills; thrives at creating clarity through an organized, methodical, repeatable approach to program management.
- Creative thinker who can develop impactful and memorable communications for a variety of audiences and topics while driving impact at scale.
- Ability to contribute consistently and positively in a high-paced, fast-changing and sometimes unpredictable work environment.
- A strong, accountable, collaborative and flexible team player
- Proven storytelling experience within a corporate environment, communicating to a large, global audience at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including ability to simplify the complex into understandable narratives, in digestible social copy and short- and long-form storytelling formats, using the voice of the business.
- Microsoft experience is a plus.
- Can-do attitude and flexibility to accommodate evolving business needs.
- Adept at managing multiple communication projects simultaneously and driving strong workback plans and milestones
- Exceptional attention to detail and ensures accuracy in all deliverables
- Best vs. Average – Candidates for this role must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have strong planning skills and a commitment to excellence. A successful candidate will have a firm grasp on content creation, program management and community management strategies, as well as the ability to execute across multiple communications formats and vehicles, including hybrid events, presentations, videos, podcasts, etc.
Performance indicators – Meeting Deadlines and meeting certain criteria that would be deliverables based.
- Fairly Tenured and having 8+ years of communication experience and being strong writer/speaker
- 5+ years of experience of someone who can work cross-group and working in cross-group communications.
- Microsoft is a strong plus and will be super helpful in being able to ramp this candidate up.
Overview
We are an agile, collaborative team looking for candidates who have a passion for inspiring, informing, and engaging people through communications.
Key Responsibilities: Leader communications. Works closely with team leader and business manager on communications efforts, messaging to drive global impact.
Content development and management. Requires PowerPoint, storytelling, editing and project management skills, and familiarity with a wide array of communications delivery vehicles and Microsoft products. Works on a variety of communications projects with team members and internal partners (including awards write ups, best practice summaries, announcements and employee stories aligned to business priorities).
Event management and promotion. Coordinates and contributes to event management and presentation development and refinement. Develops engaging communications to promote, inspire and engage intended audiences. Manages all logistics and AV for priority events (including team All Hands meetings and other rhythm of communications activities for key audiences).
Change communications. Lands changes within team in close collaboration with other change management efforts and processes.
Video and podcast management. Collaborates on storytelling, video/podcast production, and editing, working closely with team
Team Web/Intranet/SharePoint. Contributes to strategy and content development for team’s central online portal to ensure cohesive storytelling about the team.
Viva/Yammer Team Social engagement. Develops content, cadence, and analytics.
Cross-team alignment. Actively contributes to the CSS Apps & Infrastructure cross-group weekly v-team. Participates in collective projects, including cross-group storytelling and best practice sharing. The central comms team will provide regular updates on corporate communications, culture communications and cross-org alignment efforts that this comms manager will carry back to its team and distribute through channels, as app.
Feedback management. Capture employee feedback from various sources integrated into overall comms efforts. Share results with team leadership and central comms team.
Communications asset management. Creates and centrally manages core content assets and templates to ensure content alignment and consistency and amplification, leveraging SharePoint.
Reporting/Metrics. Utilizes data and feedback mechanisms, including qualitative and quantitative metrics, to review engagement and impact of communications programs and inform adjustments. Maintains regular reporting cadence on progress.
Business group – Apps and Infrastructure is the support org supporting Microsoft’s largest stakeholders. CSS and Azure and supporting them and Azure Core is half of the team/org. He’s looking for additional support on communications internally. All hands/manager calls/messaging groups/using templates.
· This person will help bring the great stories for some of things MSFT is trying to drive.
· Drafting for the CVP infrastructure customers they come to Microsoft and this is the group that manages that.
