Job Summary
You will play a crucial role in executing our mission, goals, and objectives. Your responsibilities will include evaluating communication skills, establishing communication training objectives, and collaborating with our transdisciplinary rehabilitation team to create personalized training plans. You will provide training in various communication areas, recommend equipment, and work closely with other departments to support comprehensive transdisciplinary training.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with program participants through virtual platforms like Zoom and VideoPhone, creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment.
Utilize innovative instructional techniques such as camera positioning, utilizing multiple devices, and video sharing to observe and review skills.
Offer virtual training in essential curriculum areas like braille reading and typing, utilizing tools like Perkins braillers or Perky Duck. Basic sign language may also be taught virtually for participants who can visually access the screen.
Demonstrate the effective use of communication aids and devices, ensuring participants are comfortable and confident with their materials.
Accommodate participants across different time zones or with varying schedules by occasionally including evening or weekend hours in your schedule.
Requirements
Hold a Master's Degree in Education, specializing in Vision Rehabilitation, Deaf Education, Teacher of the Visually Impaired, Special Education, or Speech/Language Pathology. Certification as a Vision Rehabilitation Teacher (VRT) is preferred.
Possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with individuals who are deaf, blind, or DeafBlind.
