JOB SUMMARY

The CMA/MA Apprenticeship Program is a flexible 10-week program with instruction provided virtually by Innovated Workforce Projects, in partnership with Workforce Solutions Capital Area. This program takes an integrated approach by mixing instructional hours with on-the-job training at one of our BSWH facilities, weekly. Tuition for the CMA/MA Apprenticeship Program will be covered in full and apprentices will be eligible to sit for the CMA Certification test upon completion of program!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

• Attends in service education, as required.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record.
• Helps in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Helps and accompanies patients from waiting room and prepares patients for examination.
• Collects, labels and delivers specimens to the laboratory.
• Participates in performance improvement activities as they are available.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical charts and records.
• Ability to take instruction from a doctor.
• High attention to detail.
• Excellent bedside way and ability to make patients be at ease. Appears friendly, reassuring and approachable to patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
• EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
