LPN/OR Technician, UHS Wilson Place United Health Services is seeking a LPN/OR Technician to join our Wilson Place Operating Room department at UHS Wilson Place in Johnson City, NY. This position is benefits eligible. Day 40 $25.12 - $35.87 per hour, depending on experience. LPN/OR Technician / Overview Experienced candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000.
Early-career candidates may qualify for up to $12,500 in tuition forgiveness.

Hours/Shift - Days, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique, maintains asepsis, anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff.

• Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment.
• Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively.
• Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room.
• Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. Cares appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case.
• Assists the surgeon when needed gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and other related items during the procedure. Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment.
• Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in Surgical scrub technique.
• Handles and identifies specimens per policy.
• Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon.
• Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count.
• Expedites the effective and efficient turn-over of the OR between cases.
• Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource, and acts as a resource for new OR personnel.
• Maintains and organized operative field at all times by keeping the instruments clean and in their proper place.

• Preferred:
  • Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting
• Meets the NYS Surgical Technologist Certification Law; OR Completed a Surgical Technologist program in the Armed Forces; OR Completed a nationally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist with a nationally accredited Surgical Technologist credential
• Minimum Required:
  • Graduated an accredited school of Practical NursingOr
• Graduated an accredited school of Practical NursingOr
• Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting

• Current New York State Practical Nurse License
• CPR Certification within 3 months of hire
• If OR Tech, certificate needed
