Our client, a leader in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) industry specializing in Utility and Commercial Scale Solar, Power Delivery, and Energy Storage markets, is seeking a Senior Civil Project Estimator to join their team. The company is dedicated to sustainability and is committed to building a more sustainable future for America through their renewable energy and renewable fuels facilities.
Job Overview:
The Senior Civil Project Estimator will be responsible for delivering accurate, cost-effective, and high-quality estimates for complex and large-scale solar projects. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for the completion of conceptual and final hard-bid estimates for self-perform construction work.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Prepare project estimates in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Gather proposals, drawings, specifications, and other related documents to prepare estimates.
• Analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
• Prepare estimating takeoffs from drawings and specifications in collaboration with engineering and CAD designers.
• Obtain quotations from vendors and subcontractors for materials and services not being self-performed.
• Conduct site visits to understand construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions, and perform time studies.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Present estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
• Work both independently and as part of a team, accepting assignments from senior estimators.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Manage change control and risk management processes.
Basic Qualifications:
• Must be local to the Denver area or willing to relocate to Denver
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering discipline preferred.
• Civil estimating experience required.
• Experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation highly preferred.
• Knowledge of estimating fundamentals.
• Proficiency with personal computers and software applications, including MS Office and estimating software programs.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems.
• Understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus, and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
• Ability to lead and influence others in a matrix organization.
