Souq has a unique opportunity to leverage these DeFi innovations to create a capital market on-chain,legally and under regulatory permission, by tokenizing and bringing public bonds and equity instruments (real world assets) onto the blockchain. Over the last year Souq has built the regulatory relationships and legal structure necessary to enable this market outcome, and in the same way stablecoins represent tokenized treasury access pegged to a dollar, Souq will bring tokenized bonds and equities correlated to their real time market value; demonstrating the viability of blockchain and cryptocurrency technology in context of how it can accelerate and improve the existing financial assets by enabling programmable, composable global access of these instruments.

What you’ll do

We’re seeking a CTO to provide company-level engineering leadership that inspires the team and multiplies execution capability to chase ambitious consumer product development innovations within the Real World Asset and DeFi space. Reporting to co-founder & CEO JonPaul Vega, our CTO will take part in shaping company, product and organization strategy, with responsibility over technical delivery of new products. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader, with a passion for Finance and DeFi who resonates with our mission, understands company goals, can translate them into a roadmap, and manage execution of the engineering organization against that plan.

Responsibilities include:

Lead the technology strategy and interfacing with external partners across regulatory, institution, and banking/custodian relationships.
Integrating with institutions, banks, clearinghouses and custodians to pull relevant data, and build a rea-time high security bond tokenization system.
Advancing the ETF infrastructure to occur at the purely crypto end, after the bonds are tokenized
Understand the current product vision as laid-out by the co-founders, and can utilize team and knowledge to generate the tech that best serves the company's immediate needs as well as 2-5 yr goals
Setting the culture and cadence of the engineering team, increasing product velocity, and achieving schedule predictability as the company moves forward with our aggressive growth targets
Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to satisfy internal financial targets
Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence
Keep abreast of new Blockchain and DeFi technology trends and best practices
Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity
Hire, develop and mentor technical talent to meet company objectives
Partner with founders on business and product evolution from ideation, design, architecting systems, and process.


Profile 1 - Stronger Leadership, Less Solidity Technical Ability

9+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience. With demonstrated strategic decision making ability and proven impact building complex blockchain and fintech technology, while establishing best practices for an effective engineering culture.
4+ years managing technical teams greater than 15 engineers
2+ years of successfully building and launching blockchain projects within the EVM ecosystem
Can construct and deliver a clear and compelling narrative to any level of audience (C-suite, investors, customers, regulators and employees)
Comfortable architecting APIs, ETLs, python, node.js, SQL, React, AWS, and CI/CD.
Experience developing, managing and growing a geographically dispersed engineering team
Experience building within regulatory, banking and custodian landscapes of the financial market
Biases for planning, ensuring outcomes are clear, and documentation is the status quo. Proactively seeks to solve misalignment through communication, setting up minimal process guard rails and continually refining our systems of organization.
Technical ability to run code reviews, execute and manage agile process, hire all levels of developers, and construct an engineering organization to scale effectively
This role is a blend of providing technical leadership and team management (30%), architecting system design (30%), mentoring engineers through implementation (20%), and engaging in strategic business planning and interfacing with external stakeholders (regulators, investors, banks, stock exchanges and thought leadership) (20%)
