Job Description

A.Provides leadership, strategic direction and oversight for the organization’s Human Resources, Employee Relations and Organizational Development teams.


B.Cultivates and maintains a positive, collaborative relationship with leadership and staff across the organization to promote a balanced people-oriented approach to employment related matters.



C.Serves as an expert consultant to the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams on Human Resources and employment related best practices and legal compliance.


a.Acts as an employee champion and change agent by anticipating HR-related needs and delivering value added services for the benefit of employees.


b.Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation; identifies trends that could impact the organizations objectives.


c.Maintains an effective level of business literacy including organization goals, mission, financial position, strategy, competition, technology and culture.



D.Hires, orients, trains, develops, coaches, disciplines, evaluates performance, and terminates staff.Ensures job descriptions are maintained and updated as well as establishes performance criteria. Promotes and models a team-based approach among staff and works across departments to support all aspects of employment at Goodwill.



E.Provides oversight for all aspects of the organization’s recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention and training including but not limited to:


a.Oversees the critical area of recruitment by developing creative and cost-effective ways of generating high quality and diverse candidates on a timely basis.b.Develops, implements and manages a compensation methodology and structure that is reflective of current industry best practices and ensures compliance with DOL, OFCCP, Affirmative Action and other rules and regulations.


c.Develops, implements and manages a performance evaluation system that meets the varying needs of each division and positions/roles.


d.Oversees that organization’s human resource management systems are designed and managed to recruit, retain and empower talent; ensuring confidentially of personnel data and matters.


e.Conducts data analysis utilizing benchmarking to track performance and industry trends.


f.Ensures alignment of employee relations with business processes to create a culture of productivity, accountability, safety, learning, growth, and transparency.


g.Oversees the organization’s training and staff development activities; ensures efforts support established management-in-training and other leadership growth initiatives.



F.Oversees the development of and reviews the Code of Ethics policy, Employee Handbook and all employment related policies and procedures for relevance and compliance oversight as well as the incorporation of the organization’s core values:


a.Ensures that training is developed and conducted collaboratively with other departments to ensure management and employees’ working knowledge of policies and procedures.


b.Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations and policies by evaluating and recommending the initiation of investigations, acts as independent review body to ensure that compliance issues are appropriated evaluated, investigated and resolved; consulting with attorney as needed.


c.Identifies potential areas of risk and compliance vulnerability; develops and implements updated policies to reduce such risks.


d.Establishes and provides direction and management of the employee/compliance Hotline.



G.In conjunction with the CFO provides strategic and operational oversight for employee benefit plans including various medical, leave, unemployment, workers compensation, and retirement.


a.Annually works with benefit broker to analyze health and life insurance plan design alternatives and financial impact of market renewal options; present budget analysis to Executive Team for final plan determinations.


b.Ensures compliance with all audit and federal filing requirements.


c.Ensures that benefits are administered accurately and that employees have adequate training and assistance during annual open enrollment.



H.Provides leadership to Succession Planning initiatives for the senior leadership roles.



I.Guides the leadership team in ensuring equitable experiences, strengthening inclusion acumen, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all team members.



J.Assists and supports Finance, Risk Management and Compliance Officer functions to protect personnel and company assets. Ensures adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.



K.Fosters a customer service focused workplace consistent with the core values and mission of the organization.



L.Performs all duties in a safe manner and ensures team adheres to all safety policies and guidelines.



M.Communicates progress, issues, and concerns to the CEO in a timely manner.


Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, plus 5 years’ leadership experience in human relations.


SHRM Certification or equivalent required


Ability to work in a team environment


Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills


Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle


Local travel required throughout the 22-county area


Ability to work outside of the normal work schedule as needed
