The Lieutenant Governor’s office is looking for an experienced leader with deep knowledge of state government and long-standing well-established personal and professional ties across New York.
This person will serve as top strategic advisor to the Lieutenant Governor and will work with the Governor’s team, state agency staff, local elected officials, and other stakeholders to advance the Lieutenant Governor’s priorities across the state. The Chief of Staff will act as both the big picture person for the office, as well as “Implementer in Chief.”
Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Directly manages the Lt. Governor’s team, who are tasked with making state services more effective, equitable, and efficient.
- Handles special assignments for the Lt. Governor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Serves as Lt. Governor’s liaison to various groups and institutions including arts, cultural international and special interest groups, associations and/or institutions; attends meetings and events as the Lt. Governor’s representative.
- Attends and participates in a variety of governmental and other meetings regarding neighborhood, business and related community and organizational meetings. Develops and presents reports and information regarding matters and issues.
- Provides expert professional assistance and support to the Lt. Governor on a wide range of highly complex topics.
- Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows-up on time-critical events.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience in state government or government adjacent role, or leading a community-based organization. The successful candidate should be a team player and self-starter who is passionate about New York, has exceptional management skills, and a proven ability to turn concepts and ideas into actionable plans within state government.
