About The Job

The Cafe Operations Project Manager will report into the Director of Cafe Operations and is responsible for leading and executing initiatives that support cafes and enable more efficient operations.

Project Managers don't just coordinate, they deliver, lead and connect - you will bring your unique skills to the team and be able to drive your own initiatives, collaborate on others and deliver outcomes as well as guiding others on how to succeed. You will lead cross functional teams to create plans that improve cafe operations - determining project resources, creating deliverables and milestones, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed the entire way - executing on time, on budget, and on strategy. In addition to leading operations initiatives, you will also serve as a critical member of cross-functional teams, identifying how cafes will be impacted by company initiatives and building the plans to bring those initiatives to life in cafes. Ultimately, the Cafe Ops Project Manager is responsible for bringing to life everything that we deliver to our cafe teams and cafe guests.

You bring varied experiences and curiosity, together with planning and collaboration capabilities that will enable us to drive our initiatives and accelerate the cafe business for the future.

You Will

  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative cafe data; test hypotheses on what is happening in the field and how to improve on the current state through targeted pilots and initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement and consistency of cafe operations across our regional markets, ever improving the team and guest experience and improving our performance
  • Conduct Kaizen calls to identify where things could have gone better and incorporate those learnings into operations going forward
  • Own and manage detailed launch plans for new products, tools, systems, processes, and organizational initiatives; identifying risks, mitigating them and escalating where needed
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to operationalize initiatives and launches that will impact cafe teams, advocating for effective and realistic outcomes
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to define, create, document, pilot, measure and roll out cafe operational systems, processes, and standards, which simplify and enhance the team and guest experience
  • Manage cafe operations project plans, timelines, budgets, assets, and overall project organization to ensure requirements and deliverable dates are clearly communicated, understood and executed.

You Are

  • Deeply passionate about experience (both external guests and internal team) and find ways to continually elevate what we do through improving processes and tools
  • Able to plan and organize a complex task or project from start to finish
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator, able to effectively distill a lot of information and detail into the why, how, what that inspires teams to make change happen successfully
  • A problem solver with a positive attitude, bringing creativity and new ideas to every challenge
  • A voracious, fast, and ever curious learner, deeply interested in our cafes’ operations and quick to help us improve all aspects of operations
  • Deeply analytical, not only deriving insights from the data we have but always finding new ways to collect information to assess the current state and opportunities to improve
  • A self starter, eager to set ambitious goals & roll up your sleeves to accomplish them
  • Able to thrive in a high-paced, fast-changing, ambiguous, changing work environment; you also enjoy having multiple projects going at once.
  • Both detail-oriented and strategic, ‘sweating the small stuff’ but also seeing the big picture
  • Exceptional at building relationships, gaining quick credibility, influencing and leading cross-functional leaders across business functions and geographies to drive initiatives.

You Have

  • 2+ years of retail leadership or equivalent experience, leading operations, change and people development. Direct ownership of a P&L preferred
  • Directed project or process optimization work from initial idea through training and implementation Experience collaborating and problem-solving in cross-functional teams
  • A deep love for great coffee, food, and exceptional team and guest experiences
  • Project management and/or process optimization experience in retail Demonstrated successful experience in identifying an issue, defining steps needed to resolve it, then developing, executing, and implementing a successful plan

A Few Benefits We Offer

  • 401(k) plan
  • Discounts on any Blue Bottle food items and merchandise
  • Paid time off
  • Free drinks at any of our cafes
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for eligible employees starting on your first day
