Job Description
The Operations Project Manager supports Wheel Ups’ largest functional division by creating, managing, and driving initiatives and projects across all divisional areas and managing all aspects of performance and delivery for them. Initiatives may span Maintenance, Flight Operations, Safety, Network (Scheduling/Fulfillment), and Member Services and across different Air Carrier Certificates, Repair Station Certificates, and business entities. The complexity and scope of initiatives and projects may range from functional and business integrations to process harmonizations, system implementations, the launch of new functions, departments, or capabilities, and changes to processes, tools, and vendors.


Operations Project Managers are key members of the Operations team and the primary enablers and drivers of strategic initiatives and projects that unlock and maximize business value, create industry-leading operational performance, elevate the customer experience, and create a harmonized, integrated Operations platform for Wheels Up.


Responsibilities


  • Prepare and provide comprehensive strategy presentations for initiatives answering Why, Who, How, What at the onset of project initiation
  • Apply generally accepted project management principles to create, organize and track projects and deliverables
  • Prepare project budgets, timelines, forecasts, and track man-hours and expenses associated with projects
  • Sequence projects and associated deliverables into meaningful delivery points
  • Create comprehensive, cross-departmental and cross-functional process diagrams for both present state and future state activity
  • Provide continuous updates as to project status to intended audiences and stakeholders; alert and adjust when additional resources or changes are needed to meet intended delivery track
  • Apply Safety Management System, Safety Risk Assurance, and regulatory compliance principles to initiatives and projects
  • Establish priorities and critical path items to ensure successful project completion
  • Liaise with Technology PMO and Corporate PMO/IMO for interrelated dependencies; coordinate with additional functions such as Human Resources, Legal, Procurement, and Accounting as needed
  • Other activities as directed by the Director of Operations Strategy & Analytics or higher authority
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations detailing overall project status, deliverable status and associated delay/completion risks
  • Maintain an up-to-date portfolio of projects and initiatives under assigned ownership
  • Ensure projects have the appropriate amount of process documentation, manual updates, and employee training created for post-launch maintenance
  • Communicate the execution of tasks and movement of resources as needed to deliver the project plan
  • Work with Operations Leadership, vendors and associated stakeholders to move initiatives forward and ensure desired completion
  • Establish and communicate critical success factors for each individual project; manage and track to delivery
  • Schedule project meetings and breakout sessions with stakeholders and necessary parties
  • Plan, structure, and manage strategic operations initiatives ranging from large-scale integrations and implementations to minor projects and process changes


Qualifications


  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills
  • Project Management Certification from accredited institution or University (PMP, PMI, etc.) desired
  • Flexible, adapting to change and changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and Project
  • At least 1 year of professional project management experience desired
  • Self-directed, highly organized and detailed
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Operations, Project Management, or Aviation related Discipline
  • Ability to liaise and coordinate with departments both inside and outside the Operations function, as well as with external vendors
  • Must have aviation experience
  • Proficiency in Monday.com
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Slack
  • Ability to lead and facilitate complex meetings with numerous stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and successfully track and manage multiple, disparate projects and associated items

The wage range for this position is $90,000-$102,000 annually. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, such as differences in skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. This wage range has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with where the position may be filled. At Wheels Up, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Your placement within the wage range is primarily based on your qualifications and experience.


You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. Wheels Up also offers a full range of healthcare (medical, dental, vision, mental health), a generous 401k plan, financial, and other benefits, including pet, life and disability insurance and paid time off. On January 1 of each year, employees with be provided with 40 hours of PTO that can be used during the calendar year. In addition, employees will accrue additional PTO (2 Hours Per Week) up to a max of 136 hours.
