About The Role
As a Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer in Imaginet’s Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team, you will work on cutting edge new technologies like building and consuming data lakes, building cloud-based ETL frameworks, and using AI and machine learning frameworks. You might also find yourself working on an end-to-end data warehouse and reporting data model with reports and dashboards for a large multi-national financial services company. Our customers range in size and span many industries – finance, insurance, retail, manufacturing, and petrochemical, among others. We are always improving our processes internally and with our customers, so there is always a way to challenge yourself.

What you’ll do:

• Get S#!T done, together. You’ll work with teams of developers in analyzing, architecting, and developing new software solutions for our clients.
• Rock our client’s expectations. Whether you’re gathering business requirements, brainstorming solutions for clients, recommending changes, or taking the lead during scrum - your positive attitude will make our clients feel like their needs are met and exceeded.
• Get it done right. You’ll perform continuous review of technologies, industry standards and industry-related developments so you can ensure we’re using best practices and ensuring that clean, quality code is being delivered.
• Learn on the fly. You’ll learn new systems and work with cutting-edge technologies. You’ll also modernize legacy systems and create solutions directly with client teams.

Requirements
What you’ll bring to the team:

• Using data to tell stories and inspire action.
• Testing frameworks and patterns (Unit, integration, end-to-end, etc.).
• Microsoft Power Platform.
• You work effectively within timelines and delivery requirements.
• Star schema database design.
• Azure DevOps, including build and release pipelines.
• Git or other source code repositories.
• You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients and can clearly communicate your ideas.
• Building data models in OLAP systems such as SQL Server Analysis Services or Power BI.
• Experience with some of the following:
• Other potential areas of experience: data science and/or statistical analysis; data lakes; machine learning/artificial intelligence.
• Microsoft Azure services like Azure SQL database, Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory, Data Explorer, Storage (Data Lakes), Runbooks, Purview/Data Catalog, Cognitive Services, Machine Learning.
• Agile/Scrum.
• Asking questions to find insights into business processes.
• Building and maintaining ETL processes.
• Authoring reports based on relational and OLAP data sources, such SSRS reports or Power BI reports and dashboards.
• SQL Server Data Tools, Azure Data Studio and Microsoft Visual Studio.
• You embrace the principles of Agile software development, specifically as it relates to Agile Analytics.
• Extracting data from JSON, XML, Excel, and structured and unstructured text files.
• Experience in one or more of the following: business analysis, information or graphic design, report design, data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, or data science.
• Graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Engineering, or Development, or you have equivalent work experience.
• Discussing and investigating business processes and problems to discover data that could be used to provide insights.
• You have a passport and are willing to travel for work.
• Querying data in various database systems, such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
• Building Excel spreadsheets that analyze data and present insights to business users through pivot tables, charts, and graphs.
• Writing code in DAX, M (Power Query), Python, R, C#, and PowerShell.
• Information/data visualization design.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Microsoft data stack: Microsoft Power BI, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Microsoft SQL Server (including Integration Services, Reporting Services, and tabular or multi-dimensional Analysis Services), Azure Data Factory and other Azure services.

Travel policy:
Imaginet has clients world-wide, most in North America, and not necessarily located locally. Short-term travel to our client’s location may be necessary when it is safe and within public health guidelines. Travel is usually not more than a week per month (on average) and generally less than five weeks in a year. Work-life balance is important to us, and we always try to accommodate both our employees and our clients. For some projects where our clients are local, we may work in their offices for most or all of the project.
