Overview:
Valta is seeking to hire a skilled and experienced Business Development Manager to play a vital role in our company’s success. The Business Development Manager will lead renewable project development efforts in targeted North American markets with responsibility for project origination and development activities, including budget, schedule, achievement of development milestones, and relationship management. The Business Development Manager will also potentially support the evaluation of project acquisitions, partnerships, and actively participate in the refinement of business strategy. Day to day responsibilities include leading defined regional project development activities, leveraging existing Valta Energy resources for project advancement, and making project/portfolio investment recommendations in accordance with Valta Energy governance processes.

We are looking to add an experienced Business Development Manager to play an integral role in supporting our team as Valta continues to rapidly grow and evolve.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate closely with Valta Energy’s Capital Markets team to provide the necessary inputs for project financial modeling, pricing, and development of the necessary financing structure for each project under development.
- Create and maintain project budgets, schedules, and development plans for each project for which you have responsibility.
- Source new development opportunities in the US market, with particular emphasis on California and surrounding markets. Provide appropriate leadership for development risk analysis, screening, economic analysis, etc.
- Manage development of large, complex renewable projects, including coordination with internal stakeholders and management of external consultants. These responsibilities include internal coordination on design, economic analysis, permitting, site control, interconnection, etc.
- Provide support and participate in origination activities associated with your projects, in coordination with executive leadership, including responding to RFPs, collecting financial modeling inputs, and preparing presentations and/or offering summaries for external counterparties.
- Support project acquisition tasks for Valta Energy’s North American business pipeline, including development of target acquisition list, offer preparation, commercial negotiations, securing internal approvals, and leading diligence efforts.
- Prepare management presentations and internal reports on new business opportunities and champion the review and approval of project development budgets as part of Valta Energy’s internal governance process.
- Manage relationships with key external stakeholders and partners including utilities, landowners, community stakeholders, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in project development, strategic marketing, project finance and M&A
- 5-7 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with preference for direct experience in commercial or utility scale solar PV and battery storage development
- Problem-solving capability
- Strong network of industry contacts from which to generate investment or development opportunities
- Willingness to work as part of a dynamic and nimble organization
- Proven track record of success
- Effective organizational skills
- Ability to travel regionally, throughout the Western United States
- Entrepreneurial and creative mindset

Location
This position will be located at in Dana Point, CA. However, we are also interested in (California) Bay Area Candidates
Base Salary Range: $110K - $125K (depending on role, experience, and competencies)
