Sulzbacher Roman Holiday Call for Captains

The Sulzbacher Roman Holiday is accepting applications for qualified boat captains to contract with the City of Rome for a 40-passenger excursion boat located on the Coosa River in Rome, Georgia.

Boat Details: The Roman Holiday is a 45’ pontoon boat with twin 140hp outboard gas-powered motors and is owned by the City of Rome Georgia. It is limited to portions of the Oostanaula and Coosa Rivers and restricted to daylight operations only. It operates late March to early November and is docked at the Heritage Park boat dock. The United States Coast Guard completes an inspection annually.

Types of Charters: Public and private tours are offered as 2.00hr trips and can be requested for charter for any day of the week, dependent upon securing a captain. The majority of tours are in conjunction with educational programs for school-age students with the Rome-Floyd ECO Center. Other tours include river history trips for the public and private rentals for family gatherings, company outings, celebrations, etc.

Qualifications: Persons seeking to apply should have a U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential for a 25, 50, or 100-Ton Master License. Individuals in the process of obtaining or who are willing to obtain a Master’s License will also be considered. Applicants will be subject to a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Compensation: Captains are compensated at a rate of $135.00 per standard trip, encompassing the time for set-up, 2.00hr trip, and take-down.
