Job Description

To apply, please send or e-mail your resume to:

Ocean Surveys, Inc.
129 Mill Rock Road East
Old Saybrook, CT 06475
[email protected]

Ocean Surveys is currently seeking candidates for several Small Boat Operator positions. Industry specific training will be provided, but the ideal candidate will be familiar and comfortable with handling small boats (<36’) and their accompanying maintenance. Small Boat Operators will be comfortable with precise maneuvering with hull-mounted and towed behind equipment in both marine and freshwater environments.

Duties include the operation of company owned watercraft varying in size from small jon boats to custom aluminum survey vessels ranging from 24’ to 36’. Candidates should be comfortable inspecting vessels and performing basic maintenance. Small Boat Operators are responsible for trailering (transporting), launching and retrieving, and fueling our boats around the country (pre-dominantly the eastern seaboard).

Field work consists of domestic travel (with the occasional potential for international) as an integral part of the job; candidates should expect travel assignments that range from a few days to several weeks. While not actively working in the field, Small Boat Operators will assist with shop duties at the home office in Old Saybrook. Those duties may include truck and trailer maintenance, vessel testing, welding, fabrication, and more (with training available).

Candidates will be required to submit to a drug test and pass a DOT Physical. Candidates must also have a clean driving record. Field work requires evenings, weekends, overtime, and the occasional holiday (with compensation).

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, but also as a part of the team. Field crews must be self-starters who possess strong critical thinking and communication skills.

To apply, please email [email protected] with an overview your boating experience, including type of vessel.

OSI offers excellent benefits and pay to qualified personnel.
