The Greenville, North Carolina, USA site is a large, multipurpose pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and packaging campus. The operation provides both development and commercial services for sterile injectables forms.
Position summary
Performs automation support for pharmaceutical process control systems. Develops, enhances, and provides guidance of automation application for present and future process systems. Emphasizes minimizing production equipment downtime to increase equipment availability and efficiency along with regulatory compliance for process and support systems. Works closely with Production, Maintenance, Validation and Quality to maintain cGMP compliance, injury-free workplace, and on-time product delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and supports all aspects of alignment to User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, and related user documentation to achieve and define system functionality for automation systems.
- Owns results by taking actions to correct deficiencies and reports variances and exceptions on automation systems.
- Provide technical expertise and support with meeting business unit objectives and increasing production’s Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Maintains system architectures and associated documentation.
- Assists Engineers and Mechanics in identifying issues and faults within the equipment’s Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system using technical documents, ladder logic, etc.
- Owns the startup of new automation systems by ensuring code and configurations meet specifications and validation requirements.
- Collaborate with validation teams to ensure all modifications to automation systems maintain GMP standards (FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ).
- Provides supporting data from automation systems to support production or quality investigations and improvement opportunities.
- Completes process and building automation system repairs, problem solving, and upgrades in a safe, organized, well documented and efficient manner to meet defined production schedules and throughput.
Qualifications:
- Basic automation network design, configuration, and problem solving. Familiarity configuration of Rockwell Stratix Switch hardware, Device Layer Ring, and Network Address Translation (NAT) a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational planning, and social skills.
- BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with three (3) years of automation experience.
- Experience in Sterile Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device Industry is preferred.
- Applied development, support and problem solving of Rockwell FactoryTalk SCADA systems including FactoryTalk Historian.
- Practical experience in process, utilities and/or equipment controls applications using Rockwell PlantPAx and Allen-Bradley PLC platforms. Knowledge of iFix and B&R PLCs is preferred.
- 3+ years of PLC automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, problem solving, and control system modifications.
