The Quality Engineer will be responsible for implementing and leading quality procedures and activities within Pre-Production. Lead contact to all stakeholders to address and eliminate all build, test and controllable issues to ensure flawless manufacturing launches while supporting PPO as Build Site One.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead quality improvement activities in Pontiac Gear Center, E-Motor, Pre-Production Operations and Test Labs environment.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address SPPS’s (Supplier Practical Problem Solving) issued and ensure robust corrective action.
- Regular contact with others outside the work group including Central Manufacturing Engineering & Product Engineering.
- Identify the root-cause of problems through quick, efficient problem-solving.
- Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
- Active participant in Safety Observation Tours.
- Coach and train Group Leaders & Team Leaders in problem solving.
- Prepare, issue, review, sign Quality Alerts as required.
- Actively looks for opportunities to drive change and continuous improvement with current practices & processes.
- Ensure all build or process related issues are documented in Electronic Easel Board or LIAF (LAB Incident Alert Form) and track to resolution.
- Active participant in GMS Basket Weave Meetings.
- Utilize the PRC & PRTS system.

Minimum Requirements:
- Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
- Independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input.
- 2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Interpersonal skills & communication methods to work effectively with stakeholders & partners to meet mutual goals.
- Knowledge of statistical methods for data analysis.
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required (such as a Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer and/or Reliability Engineer).
- Production Part Approval Process ( PPAP ).
- Knowledge of control plans, FMEA, capability analysis and gage R&R etc.
- Skilled in technical problem solving, Red X, DFSS, or statistics.
- Experience as a Propulsion System Manufacturing Quality Engineer.
